Next time apply online or take approval letter from the consulate. These things happens most of the time when ur holding any African passport for these so called Arabian and Middle East countries, apart from SA passport holders. Ndio maisha ya mfumo.

So sorry that happened to you & your family. These things can be rough. The people at embassies are not always fully aware of regulations and some would rather guess and misinform you than tell you they don't know. And because they have to bring passengers back if denied entry, airlines will not allow people to board unless they verify that the traveler will likely be accepted. Delta almost left me in LA last year because I could not find my ETA email. Virgin Atlantic left someone in Nigeria because she left her proof of US residency in the US. No one could convince them to let her fly and have someone bring her the documents at the arrival airport. She had to stay in Nigeria and have someone go to the US to get the document and fly back to Nigeria with it. Thankfully, they had a multiple entry visa.

Poorly trained and perhaps biased employees. Embarrassing for the airline. Made a mental note to avoid them..BTW, airline employees make mistakes often, especially when their biases kick in. They give incorrect info to black and brown travellers. I have experienced the same thing. Get a refund. Embarrass the hell out of the airline, because their employees are under-educated at best, racially biased at worst.

I’m a Kenyan as well and I had the same experience with sunexpress a few days ago while traveling to Northern Cyprus. Stood my ground and after so much faff was allowed to board. Nkt!

Just last week, a friend was also travelling to Egypt and the airline blocked him because they wanted him to present a vaccination booklet with yellow Fever vaccine on it. They couldn't Blocked him as he has a German nationality so Alternative would be to ask for a vaccination booklet.

Never trust anything from the consulate's office. I remember when my aunt traveled back to Kenya with her husband, he husband was told he needs a visa to enter in Kenya and the Visa on arrival doesn't apply. This is crazy.

Get things in writing .... airlines gets fined by countries for bringing people into countries without proper documentation. Online it says kenyans require visa .you can get a visa on arrival at certain approved airports. So not all airports do visa on arrival. It is not racism. Your marriage and residency in germany has no bearing when it comes to visas ..visa requirements are determined by the passport you are holding. Apply at the consulate if you cant apply online.
