I was the self-pitier. Every word that came out of my mouth was littered with self-defeating narratives. Years later, after I healed, my friends told me how sad and annoying I was, because they saw my potential. Everyone saw it but me.

The reminder to let go of toxic relationships without explanation hit home. It's empowering to focus on personal growth instead of lingering in negativity. What’s your strategy for gracefully cutting ties while maintaining inner peace?

This video perfectly captures the essence of Stoic philosophy-balancing kindness without losing oneself. The idea that overgiving can lead to emotional exhaustion truly resonates. What do you think is the hardest part of saying 'no' in a kind way?

I disagree with the phrase "stop being kind". If anyone seeks purpose in life, they will eventually discover that there is no purpose outside of service to others. Passion is what we do for ourselves, purpose is how it ripples out to touch the lives of others. In the end, we all have the same purpose, to use our passions, talents and stories to make some type of impact on the world according to our unique personalities and life experiences. To this bespeaks a certain degree of regard for our fellow humans and is this an act of kindness at its core. You can keep your unkind philosophy if you choose, but for me, I prefer the phrase "stop being nice". Kindness and niceness are two different words, one being authentic and true to oneself and the other is at its core fraudulent, being overly concerned with the opinions of others.

Such a powerful reminder that self-care isn’t selfish; it’s essential. The comparison to enjoying a chocolate before sharing it is such a simple yet profound metaphor. Do you think this balance is harder to maintain in close relationships?
@TheHouseofAtreus-cp8kx16 күн бұрын
Things are rather simple, be kind to those who are kind to you, and dont bother with those who are a waste of your time and kindness. Spend your energy on those who spend theirs on you. don't associate with people who would drag you down, but rise you up and dont bother with things that dont matter. Focus on yourself but dont become self centered. 14 minuets in a few sentences.Didnt even watch the video, these stoic videos online give or take say the same things. Good for view time and time waste. If you havent figured this stuff out in life by now, and need a video to learn it, close your screen and go outside, experience life.

Encouraging selfishness only makes the world poorer. Anyone can set limits to one's generosity. What's given to the needy is not just charity only, but it's also justice . The poor too have rights to a share of the World's goods. For Believers, the last judgement scene is the defining parameters.

Fear serves to that make you realize your weakness so you can replace it with confidence and bravery as you age. It's a an emotion that when we are young keeps us in line and out of harm's way. Its part of growing up, but once you reach adulthood it serves the opposite purpose and many forget to not let it overshadow their true potential and it's result of waisted energy usually pondering on what future hold while they forget to live in the only moment we have to shine-
@RealStoicSage27 күн бұрын
You’ve made some insightful points about the dual nature of fear. It’s true that fear can be a guide in our youth, but as we grow, it’s essential to harness that energy into confidence and action. Living in the present is key to unlocking our true potential!
