I'm quite late for this video but I was reminded - seeing the scenes of contemporaneous life in L.A. (I'm assuming it's L.A. since I've never been there) - that Beethoven's music is as relevant today as the day it was written. When I played for a living, my favorite gigs were always recording gigs because I felt I was creating something brand new, something that did not exist before, especially since everything I recorded was new material, seldom was it old stuff.

Ik zou graag de argumenten willen hebben waarom dit werk niet door Mozart geschreven zou kunnen zijn. Dit is een prachtig stuk muziek!!!

Wonderful! Long life to modern instruments! They express so much more the real style (as opposed to the whole neo-baroque rubbish). Beautiful piece (it's part of our repertory, too - what a lovely movement the Adagio!). Complimenti!!!

Could you define what you mean by "the real style"?
@musicaricercatafirenze9717
@musicaricercatafirenze9717 7 ай бұрын
@@gilgermesch Oh sure, yes. I did not mean to use a deep musicological expression, just everyday talk, meaning by "the real style" genuine music making, as opposed to 'historically informed idiosyncratic heartless and soulless thrash' which started many, many decades ago in Holland and - I believe - in Mexico (could that be?) and - as a real stylless style - has meanwhile been also adopted by many South-American musical groups dedicated to their lovely old repertory (which I love so much and which I perform myself since the '90s), obviously because they follow - alas - some big brother... That's absolutely all! I just wanted to say: "Good music and good music making - as opposed to what you hear most of the time". Didn't want to get into musical philosophy. But, of course, if you desire to be informed about my 'deeper' analytical thoughts as an expert and 'musical thinker' do write to me and we can talk it over. Michael Stüve (www.musicaricercata.it).

@@musicaricercatafirenze9717 Why do you think historically informed music-making is heart- and soulless?
@musicaricercatafirenze9717
@musicaricercatafirenze9717 7 ай бұрын
@@gilgermesch It is not that it necessary has to be: the problem is not that historical information leads to unmusical behaviour. The problem today is that unmusical mannerism sells as "historically informed".

Do your compliments include the harpsichord (and the amazing harpsichord player)? Or is she part of the "rubbish" you reference? Does the guitar player need to be "rubbish" too? I think they are both wonderful players, so I must disagree with your comment.

I don’t think this ever needs (or needed) to be performed by an orchestra any larger than this “chamber orchestra.” Excellent.

I think this is my favorite piece of music. Emotionally evocative and cerebral at the same time. Lilt and swing *and* bombast all in the same piece? Forget about it.

A beautiful arrangement of this wonderful piece! Joshua Ranz is an absolute magician on the clarinet and he plays with such fine sensitivity - careful not to be overbearing in such a small ensemble, and I've never heard a clarinet sound better- so clear, pure and expressive! EVERY musician here is a master.

Sitar concerto shows the richness and diversity of Indian music, as well as its ability to dialogue with Western music. Bravo to the orchestra and the soloist! 👏

I don't event understand many people's "attitudes" towards music. Sometimes I take the "battle" to the concert hall. So many musicians over time have suffered greatly many of the people that have given us this music. I know I am not perfect in public and in the audience as far as getting along with the "crowd" but I struggle and get hung up on things that are distracting and it helps so much to see these performances and videos with the people that are doing it right. Thank you to the wonderful couple.

I can not believe that Los Angeles is able to experience such artistery. I will devote myself to stand true to every once of energy and effort that is needed to accomplish this sort of playing. Because it's the right and healthy thing to do. For the mind. For the body. I suggest the public to catch every bit of this in concert so as to be inspired by what is real in front of them.
