Matthews gets way too much money for his lack of toughness and drive. He's worth 13.25 million for the jersey sales and merchandising in Toronto however he is only about an 8 million dollar player on the ice. Maybe less when you consider playoff performance, but thats the curse of Toronto.

Me need more offense I think strone would be a great fit for the leafs offense tho make us more faster and skilled and bigger up front to get in front of the other teams net to score more goals and help mathews Nd keep him from doing all the dirty work in the corner s so he stays healthy to start scoring more goals and setting up other guys so he can play the full season and have a long playoff run

Looks like the massive gap got filled! Maybe he should get dealt to some other team and use the cap relief to reward others like Knies ( modestly), and have a little in a slush fund for emergencies.
