Music Box theater in Chicago, June 7-13
@raycarr13895 ай бұрын
Only in great cities like Chicago, Los Angeles and New York, just to name a few can you find an older restored theatre that shows movies as they were meant to be seen in glorious 70mm. Happy to have the Loft in Tucson,a two hour drive away that occasionally shows a film in 70mm. Thank you for sharing this behind the scenes look.

I never watched Sergio Leone as a kid, I always recognised Morricone from his amazing score in the Untouchables, from that opening theme tune he just pulls you in and he doesn't let up until the end of the film, phenomenal composer, even random b-movies he scored were given true passion and craft.

God bless Robert Zemeckis. He’s such a legend in life and an incredible genius. I noticed with this montage, you missed Zemeckis’ 2 newest movies. The Witches (2020) and Pinocchio (2022). Still, I deeply appreciate that this channel is willing to give Zemeckis the respect he deserves. Because he’s brilliant, and he deserves more respect in today’s world.

🍺😺 Cheers from Australia. Use to live in Chicago from 1985-1995 and was lucky to know Roy Leonard Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert and also Nick Digilio. I miss watching movies with all of them. Back To The Future Part II is my favorite sequel of all time. 😻 Very cool you are putting on this festival.

I used to go to the James Bond matinees on Saturdays in the late sixties and early seventies at my neighborhood movie theater; The Music Box!

I saw it in 70mm at the Music Box a few years ago - so worth it. Still stunning, and especially so in 70mm, the audio soundtrack was in full force! I also saw it in 1971 on its second release.

Music Box memory/Chicago memories: Seeing the R. Crumb documentary at Music Box, "Crumb," and having a mouse run across my foot! I love the Music Box, I love R.Crumb, I just love the doc, "Crumb," and I love, love, love that little mouse! Chicago, from 1988-ish to 2007-ish was the era in my bio that would be aptly titled "My Beautiful Life," and the Music Box would be there for sure!!! Along with the Mercury Theater, Strega Nona, Carlucci (on Halsted), Charlie's Ale House, Ooh La La, Alexander's, Top Hat, Scoozi, China Club, Brasserie Joe's, Marché, Vivo, Limelight, Excaliber, Tempo, the Oak Tree (on Oak), Michael Cullen (I love you!), Ed Olson (I love you more), The Bulls, Harry Carrey (sp?), pre-night-game Cubbies, Cubbies, Cubbies roof tops, The (original and ONLY) Billy Goat, the Sun-Times building (fuck that noise that tore it down!), Pump Boys & Dinettes, Adagio, Sweet Bean (Donny Grecco, hello!), Harry's, Toulouse, Dave Green, Yvette's, George's, free fucking parking, Bijan, Joseph Cardinal Bernadine, Dearborn Social Club, dancing at The Mayfair Regent, Bonwit's, Sugar Rautbord everywhere, I. Magnin, Skyline tabloid, Ann Gerber, Irv Kupcinet, Mike Royko, Jonathan Brandmeier, Parhana Man, Bruce Wolf, Arnie's, Arnie's Cafe, Drink, Shelter, the Consumer Electronics Show! (How the HELL did we lose THAT?!) ... Greek Town, Diana's, Petros, The Contessa, Ruggles, Rosebud, Gibson's (I remember Sweetwater too!)... One night in 1994 or '95, someone asked me to meet him at a restaurant that I thought was named for a gangster because I thought heard him say, "Meet me at 'Two-Toe'd Benny's' " ... What he DID say was "Tutto Bene." Don't get me started. XO, OLD SCHOOL CHICAGO!

It was freezing cold and raining that night. I was sitting in the front row in a camping chair. And this still ranks as one of my favorite Music Box experiences. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that I’d see my favorite horror anthology projected on a big screen.
