I had the same problem with water getting into cylinder on my cheap box store wood splitter. Like the wood processor. Is it based of the miller plans or something you came up with on your own

IMHO it's overbuilt and over complicated, instead of a log table, a winch pulling log into the feeder is less complicated and alot more compact. I have a small log splitter 6.5 hp. That's on a 4" I-beam and lawn tires. Squat or a small stool to sit to operate. Super tiny reservoir and it broke the latch on the hitch. First step I plan on is to put it on a different axle that can handle 55-65 mph towing, raise it up around a 3ft work height, add a log lift, and a much bigger reservoir, then a feed trough with a hydraulic feed, hydraulic chain saw, a ramp for bringing logs into feed trough and the hydraulic winch for loading it. Add a hydraulic conveyer to haul processed wood into the back of the pickup. And a manual adjustable 4 way wedge, and a new hitch. No rolloer tables, no other equipment needed, just hook a log, drag it in, process it, and load it. Done.

Not sure what you call a chord, but a chord is 4ft by 4 ft by 8 ft. That pile definitely ain't no 3 chords.

I like the use of available parts to make your processor. From the pitch of the motor I think a little more HP would help you, and maybe down the road a hydraulicly driven saw ?

I towed my 16’ enclosed trailer and got 1k per mile. It towed better than any truck I’ve owned but it really affected the range and driving slower didn’t help much. I’d say real world range when towing a larger trailer is about 110-120 miles, with a ten mile buffer

You can up the amps by just changing out engine parts but not sure it will be enough to run fan very long Maybe a small gas generator or close to barn for AC power ?

I would for sure build a cover over the engine plus add on sides for storage

I toad my ram, 1500 and I filled up the back full of all of my belongings filled up all of the cab except for just room to have my self and usually I get about 400 miles on the highway and I think I was getting like 280 something like that because I had way down my truck so much And I think the charging didn’t take so long. A lot of people would be interested in it, but who really gets out of town all the time if you’re the kind of person who doesn’t drive outside of town to go to other towns, that’s further than 100 miles away electric is for you you will save money, and you will learn how to adapt

Is this the extended range, or standard battery?

In the month of August I tow just about every day to take my crop down to a receiving shed. Usually about 7,000 lbs, but the round trip is only about 60 miles (30 miles loaded, 30 miles back with only empty boxes, maybe 2,000 lbs on the way back). I wouldn't be towing in the winter, so I think this would work quite well for me as I would be doing all my charging at home.

Considering how the average pickup driver uses their pickup, I'd say this is acceptable. It's obliviously not ready to replace diesel power for long range or heavy towing, but if all you've gotta do is take your camper or boat to the lake a couple of times a year? Some light household chores? Main issue is the price. That's what keeps me from trading in my truck for one.

My 2003 Dodge 1ton, with its Cummins turbo doing the pulling, w. 22 gallons of diesel in the tank, would easily pull that load over 500 freeway miles, non-stop, who you foolin'? not me, pal.

Wouldn't it be easier to run the chainsaw off the hydraulics? Not just the cutting movement but the actual chain itself could be run off hydraulics and you would only need the bar and chain and a hydraulic motor... Some gearing to make if fast enough. Just a thought I only ask because I'm learning to build one myself and more asking for my reference, great fabrication my friend, greetings from the cold state of Maine. That might be a cord. Full cord is 4x4x8. That might be 3 face cords.

Ken couple of question what is your hydraulic system setup? Like what motor is that and what is the pumps gonna and what size hydraulic cylinder you have what’s the stroke on it. I split firewood for a living and trying to build my own and ur setup looks to be doing awesome !
