What would be the top end in terms of how much speaker this could power? Granted, the volume may be an issue but curious if you have guidance there?
@synthrotek
@synthrotek 19 күн бұрын
It can power a 15" speaker or more, with the 9V battery (or 9V wall wart) it can offer around 750mA output. You can get more if increase the supply voltage to +12 (some versions of the LM386 can operate on up to +18V)

Actually it sounds good for such a small amp. I bet the original guts in that cabinet were a lot bigger. It's amazing how far electronics have come. I remember our English teacher telling us that someday all homes will have personal computers in them and we just laughed at him. Now we have the power of a mini-super computer in our hands called a cell phone.

I'd like to see a longer jam video. Also there is no BOM on the build page, just instructions on how to build.

Looks like the VCO or VCF can't be used independently? I see no output for the oscillator, nor an input for the filter. I've got Rat King's Random Sequencer and Event Modules, looks like they've been incorporated, at least in part, into this. Seems that the VCE, EG, and RND functions can be used on their own with external modules, but not the VCO or VCF, which is sort of a shame. But the kit prices are awesome and tempting for me.
@synthrotek
@synthrotek Ай бұрын
Yeah, the VCO will always go through the filter and there is no external audio input to the VCF.

It me, Ian from Rat King. The 3340 VCO is used in another module we released awhile back. The filter is something that I am looking to expand in a stand-alone module if there is enough interest. The there isn’t external input of course here because the way the internals are being put together. Just had to compromise with space. That said, one might find the filter input using the datasheet and incorporate that. The other modules, specifically the VCE is patchable for multi-function use. Thanks!

I like the part that sounds like Professor Higgins’ enunciation tester. But also the Sony Video8 camcorder quality. And the giant mixing desk. And the Fostex 8 track reel-to-reel. Subscribed.
