Thank you for your comment and question. Actually I misspoke. The Phoenix Graft is a Podocarpus, not a Poinciana. I bought the whips from Wigert’s Bonsai in North Ft. Myers

Thanks, Nigel. This is the best work I've ever done and I'm really digging it. Every time I walk by the lanai I stand and stare at it. The air roots are really coming on fast. It'll be hard to hold off another defoliation but I MUST let the new branches get some heft on them before I shock her again. I'll probably put the towel back on the new air roots and keep giving them food a little at a time. This one will NOT go in the burn pit, I promise.

Me, too. I've been doing lots of air layering of Fiddle Leaf Figs and this was the first time I tried just putting a couple leaves in water. I was surprised they rooted. With all the plant work I do I'm surprised I didn't know about "Zombies!" Thanks for the tip!

Thanks Nigel...I sure like hearing from you, too. Anytime you want to leave the cold and snow the Sunshine State is waiting for you! I learned about bonsai from Erik Wigert in North Ft. Myers. Erik and Andrea operate Wigert's Bonsai and their business is booming. Covid actually increased their business and now they're a great business success story. I really appreciate your art and the precision of your explanations. I learn so much watching and listening to you. I retired early and played golf five days a week for twenty year before finding bonsai. Bonsai is so much more rewarding now that I can barely dribble a drive off the white tees. Thanks to you and so many bonsai enthusiasts and professionals who post on KZbin, this wonderful art continues to flourish and grow!

Thanks. I learned to do this watching "Coconut Bonsai" videos on KZbin. All of them were from the Far East, Thailand, etc. It's hard to get coconuts to sprout and stay alive unless the weather is jungle-like. It's fun to get some of them to work out but the success rate is VERY LOW.

Thank you for your response, Joko. I'm a subscriber to YOUR channel and I'm honored that you watched MY video. I'm a 76 year old retiree and have been doing bonsai for about 15 years. I especially enjoy collecting yamadori locally. Bald Cypress, Buttonwood, and Ficus is abundant in Southwest Florida. I'm strictly amateur and only do bonsai for enjoyment. Your videos are so finely produced with great music and theme! I'm jealous of your art. Again, thank you for honoring me with your comment. Deeply appreciated, Sir.
