thanks for capturing the event, henk! This juvie was the second of two chicks to fledge this year at the Monarch Place office tower in downtown Springfield MA (USA). This is a female, color band black/green 71/CA, hatched on April 27, 2024, fledged this morning June 5, 2024 at 39 days old.

Which chick is screeching at the end, they all look like they've passed?

To think that these tiny chicks are now just a few weeks later four very large adolescents exploring the world around them.

Thanks henk hazenhoek for capturing this wonderful moment at Monarch Place, Springfield, MA, USA on May 18, 2024 around 5pm. In this video the ‘little brother’ chick, 21 days old (just banded 71/CA the day before), clambered out of the nest tray for the first time. He was striving to catch up with his ‘big sister’ (just banded 70/BZ the day before). She is 24 days old in this video. Only hours before, she scrambled over the edge of the nest tray and made her way to the far end of the ledge, leaving her little brother still in the nest tray. Until then, the two of them were always together, often snuggled up at nap-time. On this Branching Day, he was not going to let his sister leave him behind as she set off on a new adventure.

Where is that?

This video is at the We Energies Oak Creek Power Plant in Wisconsin. The “Peregrine Falcons 2024 Early Nesting Season Report” by Greg Septon, dated March 27, 2024 (available online) says on p. 4 that the adult female here is ‘Essity,’ 48/Y, fifth year at this site, first egg laid March 25. The adult male defending the nest in the video clip is banded C/45. The report says this male is named ‘Pack’ and he arrived at this site Jan. 30. He apparently replaced an unbanded male who arrived in June 2023 (displacing Essity’s previous longstanding mate. ). Who is the intruder here? This is not clear in the clip.

An explanation would be good
