Among all the scenes in the movie, this is the most impactful and meaningful one. Why? Because of the meaning interpreted behind it. Jake needed to regain the Omaticaya clan's trust again. And to do that he needs to become the very thing they need right now, a savior. Toruk Makto. He remembers the legends of the Toruk Makto, saving them and leading them out of the "Time of Great Sorrow", so he figures that may be his key to regaining the clan's trust and stopping the RDA. This is where the interpretation comes in. For Jake to be Toruk Makto, he needs to bond with Toruk and he has to do it without risking getting killed. As Neytiri said, an Ikran will choose its rider by trying to kill them. Toruk being the top predator is not as easy to tame as a normal Ikran, so Jake's theory is proven metaphorical in some way. Toruk's name in Na'vi means Last Shadow for it is the last thing their prey sees before their death. Jake gets to experience it firsthand with his first encounter with Toruk when he sees his shadow and narrowly escapes its grasp. Using that experience, he comes up with a clever plan to Tsahaylu with Toruk. He knows that it is the apex predator of the skies and there are no other predators that will attack them, therefore there is no need for a Toruk to be wary of an attack from above cause there are no other predators than the Toruk. With that hypothesis, Jake uses Toruk's hunting method against it. Flying high above it and mounting it while forming the bond. As Jake landed on Toruk, his shadow appeared, contrasting with how Toruk once did on him. Become Toruk's "last shadow". This scene is proven to be symbolic and metaphoric, for we can clearly tell that Jake is destined to be next Toruk Makto and guide the Na'vi against the RDA

Rewatching this scene for God only knows how many times, It is surprising on how many clues they missed: 1) the pursuing army was willing to let this 11 or 12 year old girl (that's standing on the other side of the bring smiling confidently holding only a dagger) take them on & 2) Her large (according to the belief's of their time) Familiar (Aslan) comes out and she smiles at him and he smiles at her... = 3) Throw down your swords and hope for mercy!

As a kid never really paid attention to the raptors i always thought they were troodons until i rewatched the movie not long ago.

I think one of the best parts of this particular scene is at 3:05 when the whole herd (aside from Kron) starts basically screaming at the Carnotaur. This is a form of what’s called mobbing. Mobbing is something many prey animals do when faced with predators. Cape Buffalo harassing lions, groups of seals harassing great white sharks, crows harassing owls, the list goes on. In this instance, the herd uses sound as a weapon. All that noise was probably giving the Carnotaur a headache, as well as confusing it.
