The power is regulated by the turbo, being 200 ish hp on its OEM engine. This was chosen for ultimate drivability giving 30psi 2750rpm...if i put a big turbo on it that didn't spool until 4k it would make much more power. But be useless for a daily drive. The aim as mentioned is somewhere over 240hp. Shortly after i made this video i found a trick that drastically improved the power, need to dyno it again !

@@willvangemeren2661 What trick did you use? :)

@@nicovanduin1553 i was using my vnt controller to regulate boost off full throttle, and an external wastegate to control max boost, as a failsafe mainly. However this sapped a fair bit of power as i discovered when i used my vnt controller to regulate full boost as well. I'm guessing the cam lock tool goes into the cam shaft after the rear pulley is removed.. I couldn't much tell from the video. I'm a VW tech, and this is a VW built engine (although, this is the first I've ever had to deal with one of these), so the pump lock tool looks a lot like VW's 4- cylinder diesel pump lock tool- I'm guessing the cam lock tool looks familiar to this one also (the 4mm piece of steel you spoke of in this video). I'll update my comment after I'm done (the VW 4 cylinder Diesel tools aren't that bad to locate, and they might be the same).

Nice sound! You got a valve to make the exhaust straight through? I love my 940 D24tic. I bought it in May 2017 at 183k miles and it's now up to just shy of 220k. Straight side -piped it then immediately had a silencer added as I didn't want to fall out with the neighbours on my 5am starts. Since I bought it, it's has an issue with drawing air through the low pressure fuel hoses. The problem seems to be getting worse and a local diesel injection specialist confirms the injector pump is working fine. The symptoms are, as you'd expect from air in the fuel line, loss of power and hesitation. It only happens in high rpm / high load situations. It's an otherwise very good engine. Is this something you've ever come across with your D24tic's?

The engine was on a stand when I built it , but you have to be strong to do it with one hand for sure!
@ikutiap59235 жыл бұрын
Will Van Gemeren So on the stand, how did you stabilize the engine enough to give it the proper torque without tipping the engine over or breaking bolts that hold it on the stand? Im just wondering. Bc in a car it is reached easier. Big strong tool and the weight of the car does the stabilizing. But on an emgibe stand you have challenges. I felt like my d24 wants to flip over or break off the stand so i could not continue to add the proper torque
