Play too fast? Troy Grady said its impossible to build up slow lines into quick lines. You have to start fast. This is like that diet trend on Instagram where everyone says all the old diet info was wrong

Gotta build that muscle memory, and building it accurately from the start saves a ton of headaches in bad technique later on. It's much harder to correct bad technique than it is to learn it right the first time.

I remember learning that in college in 1992. Took a while with a cassette... rewind play rewind play... but it finally got it right. Wish I would have had this preset.
It's the swing that makes his rhythm playing so hard to replicate in some of his songs. It's always more difficult to plau someone elses music and do it properly due to the minute differences we all have in our playing, but EVH was a master at great rhythm. I remember as a 12 year old it was the cool rhythm riffs that really got me roped in, and then the lead was the icing on said musical cake.

I can’t believe the fair warning album does it get more recognition than what it does. I’ve heard even Van Halen talk about not being happy with it and I think it’s one of the better albums. It’s main street was just jumping off of that stereo every time you played it, it was just live in concert. It was treacherous hell there was a riot after the concert all over Main Street.
