Great script but how would I go about setting it up to work, as my move item contents is set as a CTRL left drag modifier on item bottom half? I want the SlipView to show up only when I start moving the contents. Edit: changing it to 17 bound it to CTRL, solved! :D

Am I wrong or should the cylinders be out of phase by 120° when you have three cylinders?
@LAxemann9 күн бұрын
Good question, and very relatable! But think about it this way: In a circle, 0 and 360° are basically the same position. If you do it in three steps of 120°, your third step will be at 360°, meaning simply overlap with 0° :)
@Schatzjaeger29 күн бұрын
@@LAxemann Actually no, you are missing an ignition at 240°. You would have a cylinder firing at 0°, 120° and 240°. The fourth (which is non existing thus the first again) cylinder will then fire 360° = 0°.
@Schatzjaeger29 күн бұрын
The way it is shown in the video is 0°, 90°, 180° and nothing at 270° which makes it an inline four with broken cylinder 4. :D
@LAxemann9 күн бұрын
@@Schatzjaeger2 Haha, that's a good catch and totally correct! :D (Btw, I think those uneven spacings can sometimes sound almost a bit more natural as they can mimic the unevenness of mechanical noises quite well at times. :))
@Schatzjaeger29 күн бұрын
@@LAxemann Yes, you definitely need some randomness. Otherwise it just sounds like a robotic sawtooth wave. 👍

@LAxemann I very much appreciate you sharing your template - it is beautifully put together and saves alot of time. But i have one issue. I can't adjust the volume of any individual track. The performance horns (a6) are insanely loud compared to some of the other instruments (others are very quiet) and it doesn't matter if i adjust the volume on the mixer, in kontakt, through automation or velocity. I tried loading a few instruments (not using your template) and they responded to volume changes as you would expect. Am i missing somthing here?
@LAxemann11 күн бұрын
Heya Jonas, glad you like it! :) Honestly, no - I just booted up the template and the horns a6 react to both the dynamic and expression slider as I'd expect them to. :o Did you try to redownload the template, made sure it's "fresh"?
@jonaskassim687611 күн бұрын
@@LAxemann Aha, think i got it... you even mention those sliders in the video:) My Reaper is set up slightly different than yours so they don't appear by default. Does that mean that those sliders (Expression+Dynamics) overwrite all other automation (Velocity+Volume+kontakt)? I'm not even sure how you managed to do that - or maybe that's just a reaper thing. Oh, And Just to clarify.. i didn't mean to say that the levels are off in your template. I know that's inherent to some of spitfire's sample libraries. Anyway, thanks for responding - Now i can finally make some music without getting my face melted of by trumpets:)

hey. thanks a lot for this template! I'm getting a weird problem. I think I have everything properly setup... I get the BRSO showing all icons and articulations, but I can't select them. I can only play the first articulation (long generic). If I click on any of the others, nothing happens, and the first one remains selected. Any ideas? thank you !

Great insights about sound diffraction. If you don´t mind me asking, how was the visualization of the clip @5:37 created? Thanks for your videos!
@LAxemann4 ай бұрын
Hellooo! Thanks for the kind words! :) The clip in the video is not mine, but I'm pretty sure it was done like this: - Define points to the left and right of the object relative to the player's rotation - Do line traces from each point to the player (or the other way around) - Visualize the traces as green lines, and change their color to red if they hit an object - Tadaaaa

It'd be good to hear how engines with variable valve timing would sound in this, things like the Honda B16 where the valve timing literally pops into action at around 6000 RPM. This is some awesome stuff, well done 👌
@LAxemann5 ай бұрын
To be honest, that's the first time I'm hearing about this, haha! And it wouldn't sound any different, as it's de-facto not an engine "simulation", so it'd be a matter of me figuring out what sort of sound processing and modulation routing could result in a convincing representation :)

Great update man! It would be great if we could have wavetable for 5 cyl and then use 2 of them for a 10cyl. Adding more generators for the extra cylinders is fine up to 8 cylinder but beyond that we soon reach the limit of 16 attributes on a macro, then we can't have semitone or harmonic attribute adjustment on that macro for cylinders 9 and 10. Also is there a way we can hook all the generators semtitone value to one spot where if we change that value then it changes the value for all of them rather than having to change each one individually? same with analogue pitch or harmonic attribute on the rpm macro. It would be a massive qol to be able to change that value once and have it apply to all cylinders
@LAxemann5 ай бұрын
@@edemir3947 Hey there! Thanks a lot for the great feedback, all very valid points. The 5 cylinder wavetable is absolutely doable soon(tm). The one-knob-pitchshift not so much, to be honest. I haven't found a way that makes it easy enough to recognize/work with and precise enough at the same time. At one point I'm simply reaching the limits of working within a synth and not dedicated software, haha :P
@edemir39475 ай бұрын
@@LAxemann Thanks man look forward to 5cyl wavetable! Bummer re one knob pitchshift, I was trying all sorts of keywords in my searches to see if there was a way, but couldn't find a way to do it. Hopefully the devs add in this functionality at some point, I can definitely see it's usefulness in a variety of projects
@mattjhart5 ай бұрын
Very nice work here, sounds excellent! This is such a useful area of synthesis which seems to have very minimal resources to learn about it. Are you much of a car enthusiast outside of sound design? I'm not much of a "petrolhead" so a lot of info tends to go over my head when I try to learn about how engines make sound!
@LAxemann5 ай бұрын
@@mattjhart thank you! :) And funny enough, I'm very much like you there - Never had and still don't have a huge passion for cars/engines, outside of how they sound. :) But of course, I had to dig into the mechanical topics a bit in order to bring the synthesis forward, so I guess I have an "ok" superficial technical understanding by now. It's also the reason why I included a small technical explanation in the pack, it helps to understand what one is trying to emulate. :)
