1:57 you didnt even melt the solder on the wire. thats a cold solder and a very shitty connection. also ec connectors kinda suck. i havent found a good way to take them apart without fucking them up so they are a 1 time use. also no way you properly tinned the + wire, most likely didnt tin the - properly either. if you looked all around the wire i bet you would find bare wire without any solder.
@jerryshobbies82247 ай бұрын
It is all good. Realize this is some tiny 20g or so wire. It tins super easy. If you are tinning g 14g, yes you need to watch the back side and make sure the solder is soaked thru. And no, it was not a cold joint, the bigger issue with that old gun is overheating and burning the flux. But this is an old vid, I don't use that gun anymore. As far as reusing EC3, yes, you can reused them, but yes, you can damage them when taking them apart. Also, the bird cage wears out. These days, I mostly use xt60/xt90 plugs.

What are your thoughts on this ESC/motor package now? I was considering dropping one into one of my Traxxas Stampede 4x4s. I recently upgraded both with Velineon 3500s and VXL-3s ESCs, and while overall very happy it did leave a few things to be desired. Startup and low throttle response is terrible, makes it hard to perform crawling feats I used to be able to do with the stock, brushed motor. It also doesn't seem like they'll be too good for bashing on 3S like I'd hoped, I geared down quite a bit to bring temps down and they still seemed to struggle under load. I was hoping a setup like this sensored 1412 and Copperhead ESC might give me exactly what I was hoping for. Any thoughts?

Nice! But I'm baffled by this video of someone actually camping--WHERE ARE YOUR CLOTHES?! How is that single shelf above the jiffy bed not stuffed full of clothes?! I literally don't even know where else you could put them, other than the narrow door to the right of the bed. Storage space for clothes AND food seems ridiculously limited (although we are getting our FSX shipped as we speak. :). Can anyone answer for me where you put these things?! Thanks! :)
@jerryshobbies8224 Жыл бұрын
Yes, there is not a lot of storage. Clothes stay in duffel bags, and the bags get stored in a corner of a bunk or in the storage area under the lower bunk. The dead panel under the fridge, I removed and found space to make a shoe garage, For food, under one of the dinette seats is our pantry, under the other is kitchen stuff like pots and pans etc. under the back bench is towels, TP and paper towels. The top cabinet above the murphy is for games, flashlights, other small stuff. Storage is a premium, and we have had to learn to take less stuff. and in doing so, we find we don't need as much stuff. Except towels, seems we almost always want more towels....

i tried this on a Typhon Mega. it had the crappy 48P gear. the Axial 32P lasted 2 packs on 4S with a 15T pinion. spur is shredded. I'm wondering if the plastic motor plate flexed or my plastic milk bottle spacer failed. I'll try some rolled sheet metal for a shim next if i can find the right thickness.

Traxxas connector are super hard to solider on but it's the best to learn how to solider just my opinion and tamiya was the first connector and I wouldn't use high power lipo batteries to tamiya only used for NiCa batteries then you get Dean's connector that are easy to solider and can handle lipo then you got traxxas connector that aren't easy to solider but can handle higher voltage like 2s and 3s then you got EC5 and EC3 that can handle 3s to 6s lipo I been in this hobby way to long I haven't used XT60 connector because none of the companies that I have models from use them

Can the monster gears on the diffs be replaced with REAL metal ones? I say REAL because there are other brands of vehicles where plastic is replaced with metal except the "metal" is pot metal and doesn't hold up! They don't give you a cross pin with the new input shaft? Terrible! Is it worth starting out with the Mega and all of the plastic it comes with or would it better to save longer and go right to the 3S version? I haven't bought anything yet. Thanks.

Picked ours up yesterday. Pulling with a 2021 Explorer. Adding a second battery, propane tank and bike rack. Pulls nice! They also fixed the problems people complained about. Has the 12v large fridge and the range light and vent fan.

Sounds nice. I just bought a Kurt frame mounted receiver hitch for the rear bumper. Was a bit concerned about all the weight the hitch plus the bike rack plus the bikes will add to the back of the trailer. But with an extra propane tank and extra battery, that will probably balance everything out nice. Good idea.

How's it been so far? From all the research I've done, I've Come to the conclusion that the rv industry is a complete scam.. It's difficult to find a well built rv.. I actually don't know how they get away with it.. So I'll accept loosening screws and things like that but water leaks that you can't see over a period of time that cause damage, multiple problems keeping the trailer in the shop, is unacceptable especially with the prices they charge for rv's these days.. My friend bought a 30ft Jayco new for 18k.. Why are a lot these smaller units sometimes 5k more?? What has your experience been?
@jerryshobbies82243 жыл бұрын
There are some RVs that are well-made, but you can't get well made and $15,000 in the same unit. If you want a unit that's built as good as your house, they are out there, but expect to pay $50k to $100k

It sounds like you have had your experience of buying trailers! I am currently looking to buy this trailer or one similar in Texas in the near future so, my question is since you are not a salesman is what unnecessary things have you seen or heard of that people get suckered into when buying a trailer? I know when buying vehicles they add things or try like wheel locks or nitrogen in tires things that are just not necessary unless desired or extended warranties... My last question is what is something I might need to purchase for this model that might not seem obvious at the time until I am traveling in it? Thanks for the video loved it! I especially love the accent pillow that apologizes!LOL!

We like the trailer a lot. That is not to say it has not had issues, but thankfully it has not had any major issues. Considering the price point, I am not really expecting a bulletproof trailer though. In the next month or so, I want to do a proper review video. We have had half a dozen camping trips in the trailer now, so I feel I know the pros and cons pretty well on it. Keep an eye on the channel, That one will hopefully get done in the next few weeks, before the spring camping season kicks off.

@jerryshobbies82243 жыл бұрын
@@Oldmanlearns718 500w@48v is about 10 amps, fine for the xt60. But the battery already has xt90, so I'd use those. Also, I'd change the controller first, because there is less to go wrong. Practice on a scrap of spare wire and extra plug a few times. Soldering is not hard, but a little practice goes a long way. Plug a Male and female plug together when you solder, this will help keep you from melting the plastic on the plug. Good luck!
