I don’t, I use 17lb fluorocarbon. Couple reasons for this. The first is I like the slight stretch that it has versus braid. That split second helps make sure the fish has the bait in my opinion. The other reason is fluorocarbon is much less prone to wrapping around cover as it’s more rigid than braid. Prevents you from getting hung in laydowns, bushes, or docks as often.

I fish in Mistletoe some during herring spawn and summer time. There’s some good points and brush piles in there!

Have you ever fished up the broad river? There are apparently rapids and smallies, that’s crazy
@ZachRamseyFishing9 күн бұрын
I haven’t been really far up the broad but I’ve heard the same. Meant to go up there this summer but never got around to it. Will have to make that happen in 2025!
@GReese7229 күн бұрын
@ sounds good, I’m thinking about getting a trip with Tanner, will he show me how to catch a 4lb fish or go catch a hundred spots down like Modoc and around down lake, I already can consistently catch the spotted bass like crazy year round, but struggle to find quality bass, biggest bag this year was only 13lbs and I can go fishing and catch 70 bass and out of that 70 I won’t catch a fish over 2.5lbs. I would like to get a trip with him, but idk if he’s going to just take me down lake to catch a boat load of spots, if so that’s a waste of $440, do you think he will show me how to catch a 4lb bass?
@ZachRamseyFishing8 күн бұрын
I hear ya man. I think he can definitely help with that. I would communicate with him when you book about what your goals for the trip are

Great video, love to see content from the hill, went to Russel today it was not great, few fish up shallow but no big timber fish bit, I would recommend going to Murray, much easier to find 20lb bag up there in the grass, wish Clark hill still had grass, you should give it a try sometime if you want to.
@ZachRamseyFishing10 күн бұрын
Thanks man. Yeah I love Murray, will be fishing there more this winter and spring. It’s an awesome like with some giants. I love fishing grass, so it’s definitely more fun than the hill. I wish Clarks Hill had grass too. Maybe eventually they’ll invest some more resources into the lake
@GReese72210 күн бұрын
@ long time ago it had tons of grass, you could almost walk across that flat by the road in parksville it had so much hydrilla, but the jack fish were bad.
@ZachRamseyFishing10 күн бұрын
For sure. The first time I ever fished it was in 2015. One of the last good years of grass. Having grown up fishing Lanier, I had never seen so much grass in my life 😂 little did I know how much I would miss it 10 years later.

I fish for the NA fishing team and was wondering if you have any pointers on lake russel I am going there for a tourney this Saturday
@ZachRamseyFishing15 күн бұрын
Nice man! I haven’t been to Russell in a while, but I would say with this cold weather, stay down by the dam and start scanning for bait in ditches start in 15-20ft and work deeper till you find them. Once you have a depth start running ditches till you find some with bass. Drop shot, Keitech, damiki, shakeyhead, underspin. If that’s not your thing I’d say go polar opposite and find some shallow dirty water and hit it with a jig, crankbait, and spinner bait!

Man that’s crazy, yall caught a ton of bass, just got my first boat and ready to take it out on the hill, congrats on the finish, what part of lake was that, I’ve never explored anywhere else except Modoc and down lake, where would you suggest trying to find largemouth??
@ZachRamseyFishing21 күн бұрын
There are definitely largemouth down lake, just gotta weed through the spots or fish really shallow haha. But this was up the Georgia side of the lake towards Amity. Congrats on the boat, that’s awesome!
@MickeyStalvey-p8x21 күн бұрын
Enjoy watching yall’s videos. And I’m glad it works for y’all, but I just could not have someone fishing right on top of me. That would absolutely drive me insane. My partner catches just as many fish off the back of my boat as I do on most occasions but again, I’m glad it works for y’all, keep them lines tight
@ZachRamseyFishing21 күн бұрын
Fair enough! Yeah ever since college I tend to fish pretty much shoulder to shoulder with my partner. It helps with boat positioning and gives both of us good angles and usually allows one guy to fish a moving bait on the outside and the other to fish something slower on the inside or alter depths, etc. Plus with electronics being so crucial these days it really helps if we can both see the view on scope and know where we need to be casting. Each duo is different though and as long as y’all have a dynamic that works, that’s what’s important! Tight lines to you as well!

@ZachRamseyFishing24 күн бұрын
Damiki rig and underspin are what I have the best luck with. Sometimes a drop shot will work as well. Sometimes it’s a matter of rotating brush until you find some fish that want to eat!

another great video! Do you have any advice for someone that fishes recreationally at clarks hill and is interested in trying out a tournament? Never fished a tournament before. who organizes them? any particular one or series that would be good to start with?
@ZachRamseyFishing26 күн бұрын
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! Yeah you should definitely try some out. The best way to do it, in my opinion is just jump in them. There’s a couple different options. You could join a club which are usually low cost of entry and 10-20 boats depending on the club. Some clubs have boaters and non boaters depending on whether you have a boat. Other good options would be tournaments run by the Clarks Hill Classic and Hadden Outdoors. Give them a follow on Facebook. They have a Super 6 Team Series that starts in January. They also usually have some Fast 5 tournaments in the winter/spring in the afternoons on Sunday. Other than that, there’s almost always a SMOT (Sat/Sun Morning Open Tournament) that goes out of wildwood. Sometimes they’ll have a random one out of Cherokee or Amity as well. But the Clark’s Hill Tournament Fishing page on Facebook is a good one to follow to keep up with any that pop up.
