Boarded up shops! Boarded up Britain! Dystopia society!

I love it, it's multicultural with good schools. This is just the high street. it has a retail park? They need a Primark, B&M and a TKmax. House price for a 3 bedroom start at 300k and go up to as much as 500k or more.. so it can't be that bad. I prefer it to Gillingham and Chatham. It has a cinema, bowling and more for children Having these shops would drive people to the area. I dont what the plans are for the hugh Wilko.

Thank you sharing this. My sister is planning moving to Sittingbourne central area. She is worried about it not being multicultural as her daughter is mixed race. She Caribbean st Lucia and husband is Greek. What are you views on multicultural in Sittingbourne. Thanks

Sittingbourne isn't that bad. Just needs a few things to be done. Wilko needs to be turned into a Primark. That will bring more actual shops into the high street which will in turn move the jobless day drinkers away from empty shop fronts.
@guillembauza16583 ай бұрын
If Primark wanted to go there they would have.

I have lived in Sittingbourne for almost ten years and can quite safely say without any shadow of a doubt it is one of the worst places I have ever lived. A dirty, ugly, run down, decrepid, charmless and souless dump with absolutely no redeeming features whatsoever. I can't wait to leave.

Lived in Chalkwell Road until 2013 when we moved to Boston in Lincolnshire. Loved the house and the area. Thanks for bringing back some memories, good to see most of the shops in the High street are still going. Some things have changed, but I'm glad to say a lot is still the same. We definitely couldn't afford to move back though!

@adayinthelife1165 Strangely , it seems mostly to do with place. I don't feel the need to look at old photographs or to listen to past music, but I do like to revisit Sittingbourne , which is a place that I moved away from aged 22 , in 1968, and even though I've lived in London, Cardiff, Birmingham, Cannock Chase , in Staffordshire, Kenilworth and currently Leamington Spa , I certainly don't feel closely drawn to those places and the wish to constantly revisit them . Also, I'm definitely biased towards the South of England. Maybe it's to do with familiarity. Very puzzling.

My great grandparents were born in Sittingbourne in the late 1800's. They moved to New Hampshire, USA in the early 1900's. Have wanted to visit Sittingbourne but most of the comments from videos I've seen are not that favorable about the place :( My great grand father was a Bevis and grandmother was a Spring.

Just found your video, very interesting. I left Sittingbourne over 40 years ago. Big changes around the back of the High St but I do remember two way traffic and Saturday morning cinema in what is now Mecca . Mum lived in Park Road many more cars now. I lived in Chalkwell Rd and Hall Close, Milton , went to westlands school on London rd.
@adayinthelife1165 Жыл бұрын
It has changed a lot in that timescale. Loads of new housing developments going up all over and currently town is gridlocked most day due to poor traffic infrastructure with all the development.😔

Very interesting, well made and very enjoyable. I was brought up in Sittingbourne and left it in 1972. I've been back twice and was not at all impressed, but it's still home and parts of it haven't changed much. The former Adult Education centre was the original Borden Grammar School and if I've got anything to really thank Sittingbourne for it's a cracking good education at the 'new' BGS. Lots of memories of the closed pubs - mostly well before my 18th...
