The steam train could easily set the tunnel on fire

Visited the area for the bygones weekend and thought I saw Russell running on Sat 8th Oct on the heritage railway but as I was on my way to Beddgelert by train could not visit. I went on Sunday but it was all shut down so must revisit on my next trip. Will look forward to it. Brian

2:00 what type of locomotive is that?
@blakesparman8754 ай бұрын
It's a Swiss cog ( rack and pinion ) from the BRB railway, for the Swiss mountains. Fun fact the Swiss are the first to produce cog steam locos which the UK got from!

hi , just found your excellent footage of 2807 at Southam and below Toddington later . I am creating a promotional video of 2807 in action , now she has started her HGO and boiler is at Riley's for overhaul . We would like to show your footage in this video on our stand at future GWSR Galas' and ask for permission to show these 2 scenes in 2014 to raise funds to keep her running for the next 10 years . Please email me on [email protected] or confirm OK , thanks john Mayell , Chairman 2807 FLA charity trust , GWSR member and Pway volunteer 14 years

Hi John, very happy for this footage to be used for this purpose, as long as it's in some form credited. I've always been a big supporter of the GWSR having visited through my childhood with my Grandparents who live in Winchcombe. I will arrange getting these clips over to you! All the best with the overhaul, Simon Mulligan

A beautiful elegant and powerful little engine. Nice bark and crisp whistle. Love it. Oxford Rails brings an OO model and I look forward to run it on my "AnneliesVille RR". Thanks for inspiring us with your well done video ! Greetings, Filip

I never knew, despite being of a certain age, that the Met had acquired a GW 2-6-2T. Does anybody know when this took place? I have travelled behind one or two of them in Wales many years ago. They're nippy and powerful little things. Listen to that snappy exhaust! Nice vid; thanks.

Metropolitan/London Transport never owned a GWR 2-6-2T. This was a faux livery applied to Bill Parker's Prairie 5521 to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Metropolitan Railway in 2013, which it retained through til the end of its boiler ticket in 2017. What it will reappear in after overhaul remains to be seen

Pity it looks so dull and nondescript in such a dull and nondescript livery. NER livery may have been black as well, but it was brighter than that dull dull BR black.

How do people living within a mile's radius of Porthmadog put up with that blinking warbler? It's like a blinking air raid siren.

Linking the two railways seem to be a cool idea at first, but then, well, the level crossing alarm plunges all that. I would have still made a link between the two railways, but then I would have made a big station dedicated to the WHR, while only using the link as a way to exchange engines/rolling stock and also use on special occasions like a train running through both railways. While the WHHR was made of disgruntled FR members, they seem to have accidental made the right idea in making a separate station like I said earlier.
