This guy is so media illiterate. Obviously angel dust isn’t perfect victim representation but you’re judging him based off a cookie cutter template of what a victim looks like to YOU. Plenty of victims are hyper sexual, and crave their abusers approval. And plenty cope with drugs and alcohol. Also the cnc kink writer could very much be a victim. It’s weird to put it out public but very common for some victims. this take is more tone deaf than any of the musical numbers you mentioned. There are like 12 gay characters angel isn’t “one of the only gay characters” you are the one putting victims in a box by saying he doesn’t represent anybody. Not vivzie pop. I'm sorry you had to deal with bullshit. I made an OC who's backstory is very similar to Angeldusts & as time past, I wondered if how I was writing her was offensive. According to your video, I think I'm safe. While Pumpkin (my character) copes with her shit show by acting out sexually as well, it's only through means by dirty jokes & she HAS to, as it's a way to combat the brainwashing done to her (it's a long story). The point is, she's FORCED to make the jokes, she just doesn't do them like AD does.

I think there’s a misunderstanding about Poison, I don’t think it was meant to be genuinely glamorous but rather show us how Angel Dust tries to lean in, play along, and convince himself he’s in a glamorous situation in order to survive. I think we’re seeing the way he dissociates while the abuse is happening and reframes it in his mind to grasp for any semblance of control. It’s not the best coping mechanism but it can be very real. I was brought to tears when I first saw this because it’s something that’s rarely talked about because it can feel icky to an outsider who hasn’t lived it, but being a victim and feeling understood in this specific way is actually huge. (I know this isn’t everyone’s experience and I respect that and am not saying that isn’t valid, I just wanted to also shed a different light on it)

As a survivor myself, I heavily relate to becoming hypersexual as a trauma response. I heavily relate to not always understanding appropriateness because of what I went through as a kid. I have no issue with those elements of Angel Dust's character - I'm just bothered by the show picking and choosing when they want to take SA seriously. Why go out of your way to devote a whole song to the traumatic repercussions of Angel Dust's SA only to play up Sir Pentious's SA for laughs later? Sigh.

Cartoons typically overboard stereo types. The concept is rarely to sympathize for the characters. If they were trying to "represent" somebody it's either themselves, or that's not what they're doing. It's pulling the negative aspects of an industry out of the shadows.... Not saying "this is what gay people are like" or "this is how abuse victims behave". This is a character that handles abuse terribly. They can delve into realistic aspects of why this of course isn't ideal in real life. but it's not real life. and the 'everything needs to be about me for me' thing is gonna make most things unenjoyable

I'm an SA victim and in the age range of 12-16. Sadly it was my ex boyfriend who in fact did.......stuff to me before I was even twelve. I was 10. He should be getting arrested though after he SA-ed his cousin(who is 6 years old currently). I have no contact with him but I get all the news from his sister who i am best friends with for 9 almost 10 years. Hazbin Hotel is a good show to me, I will say. People can hate on me for it, and on Vivzie, but it's my opinion. Now, I'm not saying that it isn't wrong. cause trust me, I know it is. But, some people coming skills for trauma is humor, i would like to point out. Also, I Vivzie's intentions were most likely not to be offensive. When Angel is SA-ing Husk or Alastor, I think he his only looking for attention that he wants since other times it forced without consent. Angel could just looking to not used as......toy.....by them but to be seen as an ACTUAL human. Also, not to be rude but like so many people here are hating on Vivzie and her shows. If you guys dont like it, why can't you all keep your opinions and remain peace?(Ik i said you can hate, but please dont). I dont want to cause drama(I promise!!) but if it was your sure and you had no intention of it being offensive, would you want people to hate on you? My favourite autism representation in video games is Alphys from Undertale, she is also canonically queer and ends up in a same-sex relationship. She is hyper fixated on anime (which is common for autistic people) and she has an amazing sense of humour. Shr also enjoys writing fanfiction and is chronically online. She also has posture issues and deals with depression and trauma which is a great part of her lore.

just a bit into the video but i wanted to put my own reasons for calling myself disabled out there. truth is, autism doesn't really exist. it's just a name we gave to a set of symptoms, those symptoms being records of the way that capitalist society makes it hard for us to exist. I call myself disabled as a recognition, and a constant reminder, that this society was not built for me. that while i am not worse in any way, i am less functional in a society that has been constructed around, and continues to construct, and idea of normal functioning which i am not part of. I think it is radical to acknowledge that you do not fit, that your neurodivergency might not have any upsides, but that that is not a result of an inherent trait about you, but of a society which fails to construct itself to integrate you to your fullest extent. So, I am autistic, and disabled, and I say it as a reminder to people around me that *you do not let me fit*.

Angel Dust isn't meant to be representation for gay men (I agree that he is, but it wasn't on purpose), he's supposed to be representing sexual abuse survivors. He acts slutty to make it seem like he's in control of his situation, like the porn and drugs are something he actually wants. However, having problems isn't an okay excuse to be a problem, and I wish the show focused more on that aspect of him, that hurting people hurt people. Angel also represents addicts, and I think it did a decent job of that, and I wish you focused a bit more on that in your video, but it was a great video overall. Good points and very well made. The whole point of Poison is that it's NOT melodramatic, cause neither is Angel. He tries to hide his pain, and the moment he gets alone in his room, the song looses energy and becomes more vulnerable. I feel like Loser Baby is a good representation of the whole show. Good intentions, has a good message, but it gets mixed up with conflicting messages, such as stop being such a whiny bitch. Also, massive respect for opening up about your past with SA while also setting boundaries for talking about it.

Angel COULD BE a good representation of SA survivors, if vivzie would do it properly. i can relate to Angel in some parts of the show, and then its corny and the topic is just brushed under the rug, and then brought back out, and so on and so forth. yes, SA can lead to drug and alcohol abuse, yes it can lead to you being hypersexual and yes you can find dark humor out of it with jokes. and yes Angel signed the contract but he did not know what he was getting into until after he signed it. like i said, Vivzi couldve made him accurate if she wanted to.

As someone who likes this show, i find your criticism of angel dust completely valid, And I'm sorry to hear you were a victim of something so horrible, and i hope whoever did that to you to rot in jail for the rest of their life

21:58, it's hard having anger issues, especially when other kids in your class call you names for being short tempered, when I was in elementary, my class would constantly be loud, and so, sometimes I'd grab a book or a notebook and slam it against the edge of my desk to make a loud bang noise, they'd stop, and I'd be calmer, but then, once the period would end (my school did two periods together and a break after that) they would ask me stuff like "WERE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?!" and I would answer with something along the lines of "So was the rest of the class doing so much noise" (note, our teacher would rarely do anything about it)
