Most of the railway videos on KZbin are very competent reportage but yours, David, are pure photographic art. Keep 'em coming!
@Linesider13 күн бұрын
Thanks so much again Roger, it’s lovely to hear that especially as aiming to make something artistic which makes a connection with others is such a driver. KZbin is a fabulous resource but I will be releasing some new films from this year on physical media, a format on which I think they can be appreciated and enjoyed more, a bit like music (ie vinyl vs streaming). Many thanks again, David.

Great footage David. Sadly the line hasn’t seen steam for several years.😢
@Linesider13 күн бұрын
Many thanks David, it is a shame that the line is bereft of steam these days. Plus, the last time I was here for steam in about 2018, the vegetation overgrowth was dreadful. It would be a very interesting journey if opened up, even on a 150 or similar DMU.
@oswaldtwistle60733 күн бұрын
@ Like many routes nature is rapidly encroaching. It’s hard to see steam running again on the line with the more intensive timetable. The last time I travelled behind steam was Nov 2019 when the only available path involved an early Sunday morning start from Blackburn.

Thanks for posting this David it's a superb record of the run by the Scot, which as you say was a late substitute for Lord Nelson and if I remember correctly, we had a bit of an issue getting my car back on the road at Clapham because of the frost and mud but made it in time to see her again at Hellifield; I was so glad we did as there aren't many steam Specials which power through the station like that, even though I had to make a visit to a Car Wash afterwards!

Wasn’t it a cracking morning and yes me too, I think we saw 48151 there one morning too but the light wasn’t far enough round. These days, as we know, most things stop in the loop or trundle through and head down to Blackburn.

Excellent footage David... this is 'my' engine, never fails to please - well in my 'books'! Stunning, just stunning panoramic, proves that one doesn't need to go lineside! That is a collosul load, and 'she' is coping admirably. The frosty conditions really work. The closing head on, and 'peg' dropping is THE perfect end. Thanks for sharing David.👌

Wonderful stuff as usual, David . . . it's the composition and framing that elevate your work above the rest. As I've mentioned in the past that I'm a member of the Guild of Railway Artists, I thought you might be interested to know that I had one of my drawings selected for New York's first ever exhibition of railway art last summer. Looking forward to seeing more videos!

the master panning planner achieves it once more. Panning from a distance gives you , and us more of the train in the landscape. More time watching steam . Not just the flash as it passes brilliant again
@Linesider111 күн бұрын
Thanks so much Amacf, greatly appreciated. I love filming steam in the landscape but I know some viewers prefer the close-in shots and haven’t got the time for long sequences. Each to their own I guess and a bit of both works for me. As a keen Fellwalker too, it’s always great to film steam from up on high and then, after it’s gone, I get to potter about on the tops for a bit. Many thanks again, always love reading your comments.

This is probably the best definition footage of her working. I think of all the gresley engines the B2a sounded the best as they had a very syncopated but lopsided beat. I would live to see her run again, my understanding is her monobloc cylinder casting is cracked so a new one would be required.
