This has got to be the the best ever footage of a steam train's progress through some lovely scenery. I've never seen better. The use of strong zoom lenses and great sounds make this remarkable. That low winter early morning fog in the moorland and the trail of train exhaust smoke, so well captured. Many film directors would kill to have footage like that under their belts. This is not just filming, it is a truly creative work of art.

Yes definitely a no-nonsense machine Austin. It's a shame that so many have pooh-poohed it over the years on account of it 'not looking right on a passenger train'. Perhaps those same folk now wish that it was running.

I hope it ain’t too late to ask, but why does #45407 have a multi chime (sounds like either a 3 or 5 Chime to me) instead of the usual LMS Hooter?

It's never too late to ask. I don't know but it has also been fitted to 44871 and 76079 in the past, and I think it came from a foreign loco. I understand that 45407 now has its original whistle re-fitted. Thanks, David.
