Consider that ANY piston (not rotary) engine at the slow 600 RPM's - EVERY piston of that engine - changes Direction TWENTY times - in ONE second! 600 / 60 seconds = 10 times to the TOP - but you also have 10 times at the BOTTOM of the stroke. Here - we look at a valve spring. But the Piston - EVERY piston of this Engine - is moving at 141.66666 strokes per SECOND. And each piston is changing direction (going down; going up) 283.33333 times in ONE second. This why piston engines do not last very long - at 8500 rpm's. They self destruct.

when you think about how many moving parts in a ohv engine, crank, rods, pistons, cam, valves, timing gears, oil pump etc. at high rpm.

No valve float. good job. The most I've been able to get from a naturally aspirated stock V8 4 barrel is 6000rpms. I ported the cast heads, also ported an aluminum intake manifold and swapped a few carburetors to achieve 6000rpms in a motorhome 😂😂😂😂😂

well I learned something. The springs get fully compressed.

Extremely high rpm engines don't use this setup. Instead they use pneumatic valve trains making the weight of the springs & retainers irrelevant. 4 valve systems are also superior to 2 valve systems in this manner, 4 valves = smaller components= less weight. Less valve lift required with equal or more port velocity.
