She is so let down by the sound mix of the band behind her, it's just trash. but her beautiful voice just cuts through it. the voice of an angel.

Review talking about Gloria Berloso and Ricky Mantoan article.wn.com/.../Book_on_Bob_Dylans_Celtic.../ If It Be Your Will of Leonard Cohen Gloria Berloso: vocals Ricky Mantoan: guitar, mandolin, celtic harp, keyboards, accordion Dense and intriguing. If you ever loved Cohen you'll find it rewarding, and if you didn't, it's still a fascinating slice of music history. The legend and influence of Cohen increase each year as a new generation of music lovers begin to learn just who were the real major influences of the sixties. Her wide innovative sound has won fans from the world of folk, rock and pop. The song was based on a series of events that happened. The evolution of the song was a story in itself with Ricky Mantoan employng a rhythm feel inspired by the Byrds, Leon Russel, Flying Burrito Brothers, Gram Parsons.... The performance of song was another test to Gloria whose the progress over the months was impressive. The decision to cover "IF IT BE YOUR WILL" was primarily instigated by Gloria.

I think the Greeks may want to have a few strong words with you about the "Irish Bouzouki".
@ispanico302 жыл бұрын
The original bouzouki was three-stringed, tríchordo (τρίχορδο), and then became four-double-stringed, tetráchordo (τετράχορδο), after World War II. Its diffusion is due to Manolis Chiotis, considered one of the great virtuosos and soloist of the bouzouki. The Irish version: a variant put precisely by the Irish during the sixties. What is it? A drop-shaped resonance box was introduced, which differs from the Greek original in flat bottom and tuning.The difficulty in performing this piece is precisely in the original choice of the Irish bouzouki.

@ispanico302 жыл бұрын
Iron Hand (Mark Knopfler) è inserita nell' Album: On every street (1991)

This is the final version of the song "Ballad of Easy Rider", a song taken from the 1969 movie "Easy Rider" and recorded by Gloria and myself last week. It is a musical tribute to Roger McGuinn, leader and founder of the BYRDS, with whom I had the honor and pleasure to play at the Teatro Tenda in Brescia in 1984. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qIq6Znx5epidesk

I'' ve seen in 1988 the line up with Skip Battin on bass, John York with a Guild 12 strings, Ricky Mantoan with a Rickenbacker 6 strings ,i don't remember who was the drummer, probably an italian guy that Ricky knew. A lady took me a photograph with York , but she never sent it to me ( 😡) . Unforgettable concert, and i have to say about John York that he was very friendly!

@@ispanico30 Gloria, are you italian ? The night i was watching the " Byrds" was in Padova ,Italy, and it was ,as far as i can remember, December ( or November) of 1988. John York was sitting on a couch with me ,and he signed his autograph for me ( that i lost) ,in the meanwhile a young lady took us a photograph, and i asked her to send me a copy. I remember that this lady was from the region of Piemonte . Were you there that night ?

@@patrickbuzzo1970 Yes I am Italian, I was Ricky's partner, but I wasn't in Padua in December 1988. If you want, there are CDs. Skip Battin and Ricky Mantoan are no longer with us, Skip passed away in 2003, Ricky in 2016.

The absolute best ever¬ As a teen through the 60s I enjoyed the London club scene but all of us thought The Byrds outstripped the likes of The Beatles and The Stones by miles! Hanging on my wall since the 60s is a signed LP cover of Mr Tambourine Man by the entire group.I obtained this on a visit to Virginia USA back in the day and when l met up with Mick Jagger in Mustique in 1989 he wanted to buy it from me - no way as it is priceless¬ I still listen to them 2 or 3 times a week!
