Great tool and video! I don't know if you already did that - I wasn't able to find it in your channel - but it would be really interesting to make a step back and see how you've designed the quests in the first place: how you structured them, how you managed all their dependencies, etc. Anyway, amazing work as usual!

It's also worth noting that most of these lovely moments happen early in the game because they knew that almost nobody would push through into later areas.

Thank you for making this video. Very few content creators have the confidence/ability to compare their work to others and compare and contrast the methods and thought processes behind them.

"You can't make decisions on something that doesn't exist" is something I really needed to hear. Has helped me so much just starting with some kind of blob, and then tweaking it. Great video as usual!

This is like my dream job , I've been following you for almost a year now. It's ashame I'm not qualified yet or else I'd even move to Australia for this position lol. Keep up all the good work dude, I'm going to keep pushing and maybe one day I'll be good enough to accept an offer like this! I absolutely can't wait to play insignia 😁

For me strict color palletes are not necessary anymore. They used it for older pc or console games because of the perfomance limitations they had. If you look on physical art color palletes are way bigger and not strict most of the time. For me the only important thing is the setting horror = dark / happy = high contrast / sad = low contrast just to name few examples.

The bright red hair is something so specific I'd keep that for the main character only. The red highlight on the conductor's hair makes it look like he's the main character's dad or they could be related. It's always fun to watch you do pixel art. Great video.

i could not imagine how useful a dedicated tool for pixel art could be, i always thought gimp (which i prefer to photoshop especially for the selection tools when working with single pixels) can do everything thats needed.

I've been getting really into pixel art (and hopefully game design) recently, so seeing tutorials and other videos like these really help. Ive always loved games that had level editors, like Portal 2 and Stealth Inc (1 & 2). Plus Minecraft since it's well...Minecraft. The first main experience I had with tilemaps was the PC version of Stealth Inc, since the editor has a separate menu for background tiles. Which has them displayed as a full screen of tiles to pick from (or highlight multiple).

For the leaf particles to not look like poison, maybe try adding a soft border to each sprite of the animation.
