I wish I would have watched this a couple weeks ago. I put the extra studs in as per the instructions of my pre-fab shower, but didn't put them in flat-way. I think it will still work out, but doing it Eddie's way would have left more margin for error!

What if you have a larger room and have to put support from the joist. The joists are engineered ibeams.

Thank you!! Came looking for this for type of idea for an outdoor project. Is this way easier/stronger or same as cutting the 2x4 diagonally from corner to corner which will get two of the same size pieces, the same shape as the way you did it?

Dug the hole with a shovel, cut a 40"x45" hole in 8" cement and installed a specially made egress window and well...by myself. This guy is lazy.

My house was built in 1919, and it has 3 small windows in the living area of the basement. I am gradually redoing my house after 26 years of basically doing nothing to it but painting and replacing water heaters, gas furnaces / heaters and bathroom things. I am basically doing everything myself because my husband is not a DIY type of person and I am. So, it’s taking me a long time to do things. Was just wondering do I still need to put a bigger window in my old basement and should I put 3 big windows to make them all look better and have more light. I do have a sidewalk right next to my house that butted up to it. Oh by the way I am a 67 yr old woman and I love doing DIY projects, but my husband seems not wanting to get his hands dirty and rather watch tv or be on his phone or go to the gym. ……. Lol, maybe I need to find a new husband after 37yrs of marriage.

Do you need to drill rebar into the original slab before pouring the new concrete? Also, is a vapor barrier needed? And pea gravel for backfill?

I own a tri-level home. The bottom floor has 36x36 windows that have there bottom at ground level. They are also 42 inches from the floor. Does that qualify?

"We never use the existing bathroom location". I understand. When I renovated my house, I moved the basement bathroom too. Things that seemed like a good idea in 1972 to other people don't always hold up to current ideas.

I’m considering setting up an Airbnb in my partially finished basement and want to install a door to provide direct access. I do have an upstairs side door, but it also gives access to the upstairs portion. Can I install the basement door leading to the bedroom and not an egress window? I know it will be awkward, but don't want to install an egress window and a door if I can help it. Or, can I knockdown the bedroom wall and install the egress door at another location?

First of all, this is super helpful content. Thanks for making this available. It’d be interesting to see another version with no GC, but each trade subbed out independently. You talked about cost to sub out drywall, but what about framing, plumbing, electrical, & paint?

First of all, great videos! They filled all the gaps in what I didn't know what to do and then some! I do have two situations that I would like your input on how to handle. 1. The basement has a load bearing all that exists running north and south in my house. It ends before the stairs coming down(think of them in the middle) and has a door opening. I need to run a wall that will intersect that right at the opening (running east and west). If I measure out the 6 inches from the foundation (It has the insulation blanket), the wall will no longer meet correctly. What is the best way to handle that? 2. I have another wall that I need to build that will be running east and west (exterior), however, there is a rough in for a shower/tub there. I worry if I go in the 6 inches, it will mess with the placement of the rough-in drain. Is that a non-issue and I should just do it?
