That's awesome! And I'm glad you're trying this leader! He's awesome! The only change I've made recently is there is a new odyssey chopper in op09 that restands itself at th end of turn. I swapped that in and took out the chopper that pitches a card to recover one from trash. It's such a good card!!

Yeah absolutely a case could be argued for 2 of those! That's one of my biggest problems with Shanks is that until like 7 or 8 don there just isn't much you can do. That would offer some mid game support and removal. I think Shanks is still being figured out to some degree here in the west and there are a lot of tweaks you could make to the control build. I do however think the control build is the one we'll see the most of.

@thegoldstandardtcg 100%. I also personally really like the 2c stage. It felt really good to have in the opening hand and being able to play it out on turn 2. It's like a denies lobby in red and combos we'll with other removal such as white beard to deal with 6k boa blocker for ex.

@HoangNguyen-im4rd hahaha I was just talking to someone last night about the stage! If you can hit it on curve then yeah it's awesome! It definitely loses value as the game goes on but 2 in the deck would be solid!

Definitely using leader ability there makes victory guaranteed but I felt like I was so far ahead it didn't matter. I had shigan in hand and with doc I could remove anything. He would need a grav blade to do any real type of removal and stay in the game but then couldn't really play anything else. In that position I felt like it just didn't matter anymore!

Ooo that's tough because it depends on what effect you're trying to mimic. If you want the reduction building snake is not a terrible option or honestly there's a world you could put the 7c ace in that reduces two characters by 3k. If you want more removal the 7c beard is solid for sure!

@@thegoldstandardtcg Actually I'm trying beard as my 1st option! Red force+ 5 cost marco isn't bad either but will have to test more!

More the point I'm trying to make there is you should be aware what each of them does and make a decision from there. Yes building up your trash is important but if you're looking for something in particular and discard your 10 beards that's a problem. As far as the ideal curve yeah BB prefers going second but not always. If you're playing into Pluffy or other ramp or aggro decks and the choice is yours you definitely take first and so knowing what your odd curve like is important. And finally how can you say I don't play it?! I played 3 games in this video! 😁

Hahaha damn you're right that would have been hilarious! Honestly I was just so pumped to finally get to use Roger that basically all strategy left my mind the moment I knew I'd be able to play him!

Totally agree but I wasn't really saying that decks would be transitioning to this exclusively. I was more saying people are going to get creative and come up with interesting work arounds. For instance things like using the shut up and come event to play out a book chopper on their turn and then having access to his ability on your turn. Mostly I'm just excited to see what interesting things people cook up now that on play is not what it used to be or if there will even be enough Blackbeard players to actually have that dramatic an effect on the meta!

@monoTNT hahaha bro no kidding! Another guy in here was using Kuzan as a replacement and if it sticks on the board that can work. Orlumbus is another than work but you have to ditch him at the end of the turn. Unfortunately Laboon is kinda expensive for a reason right now! It'll come down though. A lot of people will come off Blackbeard in the next few weeks.

I'm not sure where you're talking about. What's the timestamp? I assume it's because Van Augur reduces by 3 so I couldn't.

I completely agree but I've been running into this tactic a lot with doffy players right now. I think it's because it's still early in the release so they haven't really settled on different strategies yet and the main one they use is to get you to 0 life as quickly as possible to use Perfume Femur. They become sort of blinded by this and just swing at life hoping to get you in range at all costs.

Yeah so a simplified way to think about this is I usually go first against any ramp decks and aggro decks and then second against control decks. This isn't always the case but it's a pretty good rule of thumb. So B doffy, pluffy, bp luffy, pudding and basically any red decks that I suspect will be rush heavy I go first against. Then most black, green, and yellow decks I take second. Again this is super general as there are like 80 leaders in the game but this is a good place to start!

@thegoldstandardtcg what a G for responding. Going to my first 09 locals with BB after coming off 2 rotations of Lucci so want to be in a good spot. I'm using the same deck build as you anyway which also helps

Totally agree! I think you'll have a lot of success with this deck if you're already thinking about that. Patience is king with this one and I think a lot of people will give up on this leader because they'll gett frustrated in the mid game.

Honestly that's a solid substitution my guy! With the card draw it really helps the deck!

@ well the on play doesn’t work and doesn’t have counter but laboons are too expensive now. it’s the only other card i could think of to use for it

@ZaRpGamings oh duh that's right! Yeah not having counter is tough. Also not being able to reduce the turn you play it makes it hard because you have to hope it sticks around. I still think it's a decent substitution until the Laboons come down in price!

You can also use the pirate party axe hand Morgan even tho you get -3 cost instead of 4 you keep the counter. And since you don’t draw a card via kuzan’s effect it’s probably the best replacement for that overpriced whale.

I am using one legged soldier. 2k counter if u need, and -3 as activate main. Only downside is u lose that body and target for your opponent. The only other card i think of using is dressrosa orlumbus. He has also activate main -4. But u have to trash 2 top deck cards( which is not bad for Burgess) and u have to trash a dressrosa type on field. So u could use mansherry here. She brings back a 3-5cost from trash (burgess, Van Augur etc) and after that u can trash her for orlumbus. And since u doesnt have to rest him for that effect its also not bad.

Hey thank you my guy! Really appreciate the kind words!! Yeah honestly I put this decklist together because I felt it was the most generic and still showcases what the deck is capable of. I'm 100% not sold on Jack. I agree that Mansherry works against the idea of the deck. I do like temptest kick and honestly I'm toying with the idea of the 9c Kaido that trashes a 7 cost. I think on the odd curve that could have insane value!

Damn no Bonclays makes that a hard build! It's so good against all the top end everyone is playing! The Luffys are good but I feel like Bonclay is almost more important! Let me mess around a little in sim but I honestly don't have a great answer right now!

@@thegoldstandardtcg I’ve seen two different thoughts on it one is to run the 4c Usopp from 09 which is still a 1k and is a vanilla attacking body. The other I’ve seen is 2c Ulti from OP01 that you pay one on okay to ramp a don. So there are options both for attacking or don ramp but there isn’t another card that does both like Bonclay. I just can’t spare the $45 for a single copy of him at the moment.

@herecomesthebass bro I totally understand! Ridiculously expensive right now! Both of those are good options. I think it depends on if you're planning your build around Blackbeard or not. The vanilla is a solid choice against him. Otherwise I would take the Uta!

@bigchris3247 if it's because it says that you have exceeded the download limit there's a document included in that list that walks you through how to get around that. I forget the exact steps but it's something like making a new folder in your own google drive and copying over the IOS download into that. Just look for the text called WORKAROUND in that list. Let me know if you it works for you!

I felt like it's sort of the same as Zeo and I needed the 2k more. Surprisingly there isn't a lot space in thise deck!

@ I’d think of it more like a mini 9c Zoro effect where you take life to hand to restand Daruma to swing again. Hachan is another good option for a 2k that is searchable off Camie. Running 1 less Aladine or Fisher Tiger could free up some space.

Actually now that you mention it I honestly read this card all wrong when I built this deck! I thought it was just a boost mechanic! I didn't even process that it restands. I'm gonna have to squeeze that card in somewhere for sure!

@ I run 4 of it in my Hody Jones deck and it a really nice play plus it’s a 1k on top of being a top target for removable so it’s kind of a pseudo blocker at times.

How many Fisher Tigers and Aladdins do you run? Also do you use Noah's Ark?

@ccggenius hahaha I love the analogy! I couldn't agree more. This was the build I was testing with and didn't want to change it for the video. But yes 100% the change I would make is to put that at 4. It feels so good to trigger from life!

Hard to say as so much of this stuff is necessary. Depends how much your using Shanks but you could probably drop to one. The 0 cost event could go to 2. Dosun could be 3 because you don't want to see it to often and Fisher or Aladdin could be 3 of. I would mess with those ratios until you land on something you like! Fisher Aladdin and Dosun are probably the easiest to choices to start with.

@azeezoh9774 no worries at all my guy! No starving is a strategy where you don't attack at their life because you don't want them to have more cards in hand. Instead you attack into the characters on their board to try and get them to use the counter in their hands which also reduces the options they have to play on their turn. You can think of it like this. A person with 1 or 2 cards in hand and 4 life is less dangerous than a person with 5 or 6 cards in hand and 2 life. The second person has lots of options and also lots of counter.

Well whoever goes first is at a huge advantage. The 4c blocker law as an early play to force the discard could be huge. Really all of your blockers will help from being rushed down. If you're going 2nd turn 2 Magellan will throw their curve off and you'll hit the Luffy combo first. Other than that it's kind of a race to your combos and who can get the big bodies and aggressive hits through first!

@bryanpadilla8826 honestly I completely agree with you! I think she's an extremely soft addition to the deck. I rarely use her but some people swear by her so I had to include her. We had a guy win at locals last night with basically this deck and he won one of his matches because of her.

@thegoldstandardtcg my problem with the card is that for 9 Don it really doesn't do anything. The life gain isn't free have to discard, placing a life to my opponents side just makes the game last longer, and only 9K attack. So many times I swore she was 10k. Just feels like purple gets nerfed versions of other cards. For example 7C Luffy worse than the Green Luffy because of being a blocker. ONami Blocker has literally the worse stats I've ever seen next to 4c Hawkins from op-01. Like they purposely gave her crap attack because they knew Luffytaro was coming. Unlike Black that has all these broken cards, Rebecca, Lucci and then they get 8C Gecko with 9k attack. I've argued if Gecko had 6k attack he still be a 4 of in every Black deck

@bryanpadilla8826 hahaha don't get me started on the love they show black! Even yellow has some busted cards! Purple is always in a weird spot because they try to stick with the don removal theme but use abilities that work better in other colors. I mean there is something be said for putting a no counter attacker in their life. Like I put a Weevil in a Doffy players life the other night and won because I knew that was the last card but yeah I hear you. Kaido would've done the same thing I just didn't have it.

@@thegoldstandardtcg that's the only matchup I think Big Mom good against. Put Boa or Weevil in their life. Honestly she should be a 11k like 9c Shanks who can KO anything that is rested.
