Despite everything, underneath all that hatred, Giegue was ultimately the tragedy of an abused child lashing out at the universe that had wronged it. Scorned and later presumably experimented on by his own species, Scorned by his adoptive father, despite his best efforts, And his mother, the only one who truly loved him, she died far too young in his miserable life. A child scorned by both worlds, then forcefully molded by his own kindred into the mold of a destoyer and conqueror against his will, bereft of his humanity, before being turned upon his mother’s home in his maddened rage. No wonder even a mere memory brought him to tears; after all, a dried up flower, when exposed to water after so long, will often wilt and melt.

I know his name wasn’t Giygas in the Japanese versions (I also just found out that he was also called Giygas in Earthbound Beginnings), but I like to imagine he changed his name in an Anakin/Darth Vader kind of way to reflect his descent into madness.
