Thanks for the excellent videos, Trippp. Drawing lines on the HSD is a great feature. One other SA builder is using the cursor on HSD while it’s SOI. Using the line mentioned in your video and slewing the cursor, you’ll know exactly where to point the FCR. Thanks again. Your contributions to BMS is fantastic 👍🏼

Great tip there, will use it myself.... when things get heated and your dealing with multiple groups it is very easy too spend to much attention working on a bullseye call. Regardless of experience it will make you process faster in the cockpit. Kudos to Serpent and as always, Kudos to you for another smashing vid.

This is straight out next level bullseye management! I never understood why the bullseye doesn't have its on north flag. I almost always ended up looking for both, the HSD northflag plus the bullseye itself and only than start to evaluate where I have to look. With this method the actual processing should be much easier and therefor quicker. I'll set my STPT-line to 40nm maybe, should be easy to adjust in 2D with the 'ruler tool'. @6:59 This! The word "for" should really be avoided in conjunction with any bullseye calls. I always say "at" in between. Potentially misleading bullseye call; "one six zero for nine angels twenty" Does the guy mean 160/9 miles/20.000 or 160/49 miles/20.000 ? Thanks Trippp, I really appreciate your tricks and advice.

Ohh - good spot !!! 😀 So simple and great solution - thanks a lot for sharing. I'm definetely gonna use it. I used to ''FZ'' HSD, freezing MFD in the north direction and then working with the AWACS. That's was my simplified idea hehe

Best explanation I have seen of this simple yet for elusive -2.5 hash lines, damn things are never where I want them until now. Useful thing though, visually much harder to guess your glide_slope but with the -2.5 line you have a handy visual and stable cue. Thanks Tripp.

Hi Tripp. Nice video. Just for curiosity sake a typical climb profile in the GIV I fly is 250 kias to 10,000 ft then 300 kias until mach changeover which is .78 at approx FL320. This at climb EPR. Pretty close to this.

This is the best way to do it by far! And for those who still don't get it, you can just print a big compass like this i.pinimg.com/originals/ac/ae/62/acae62aea71b10f992c65ce7927982a3.jpg and place it on top of the bullseye icon and use that as a refference. If you still can't do it, go back to 1st grade! XD

PD, I didn't have to teach my voice to any recognition program. I'm using VA in both Win 7 and 10. VA just worked right out of the box. There are some words it just won't recognize, like 'home'. Another technique is to use phonetics, for instance it doesn't understand 'Taegu' airbase very well. So I use 'Tay Goo' as the command. So to answer your question, I don't even know the name of the Win program VA might be using, and I don't have any third party program.

Greetings Trippp. Best tutorials on KZbin. No questions about it. In the GIV I fly in real life we use a climb profile of 300 KIAS to a mach change over of .78. the change over occurs at about 31,000 feet. We normally climb to 38,000 to 40,000 initially and then we accelerate to mach .80. I just said all of that to endorse the fact that you know what you are talking about. I thank you for your work.

Great video, just some questions, to make your aircraft gives you the coordenates in relation bullseye to know the bandit positions. Do you need to select a specific waypoint in your aircraft as a bullseye?? or it is not necesary or the HSI automatecally recognizes the bullseye position?? Does the HSI have a magnetic needle??. I need to know these little details. thanks in advance.
@87thtrippp43
@87thtrippp43 7 жыл бұрын
Bullseye can be set anywhere on the map when you're on the Mission Schedule screen. (Right click anywhere on the map and select 'Set Bullseye', then 'Confirm'). Steerpoint 25 is always the current b/e position. If you set that as your current steerpoint, the HSI bearing pointer and dme will give you the direction and distance to it, when the Instrument mode selector is in the NAV position. It's not necessary to have STPT 25 as the current STPT. The bearing pointer is not used in this technique. I know my bearing and distance from b/e from the information in the HUD, and I know the called bandits bearing and distance from b/e. I'm superimposing the HSI compass card and putting it over the top of the HSD, then determining which way to turn to get my radar looking in the right direction for the bandit. Hope this helps, T
@87thtrippp43
@87thtrippp43 7 жыл бұрын
Lobo, AWACS gives locations in relation to Bullseye if you have that option set in the setup page. B/E is always STPT 25, but you don't have to select that stpt as the active stpt. B/E shows up as a blue circular symbol on the HSD and FCR automatically. The HSI bearing pointer points to either a stpt you have as your active stpt, or it points to a TACAN location, depending on where you have the Instrument Mode Selector set on the HSI. Give me a shout if you need more info, T

When I launch the delilah, I'm not getting CRUS appearing; it still says STRP. Now, I understand it may be saying that because I still have one left, but cycling through all 7 Channels (OSB4) I don't ever see anything other than STRP. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Launching at building from ~50nm. Do I have to set TGT STPT/WPTs in the planner?

It seems to be a DB error, or I haven't read the documentation properly. I've just installed IKAROS 4.1.0 and I was flying a HAF C52+ with the correct datalink pod. It wasn't working and I wasn't getting the datalink avionics. Loaded up the IAF SUFA and it worked as expected...
