Some bystanders make comments while watchig a fire and have no idea what they are talking about. I hope it's not electrical cause he pulled the meter. Back when I was a FF, we had a guy that worked for the electric company and theree were times he pulled the meter. This way we wouldn't get electricuted during an inside attack. The FF on the deck gun needs a little more training. LZFD ret

What I did not understand there were firefighters just wearing turnout pants (west coast term) if one is going to fight a fire he or she should be in full gear. Yes it is extremely important to check out the fire department that provides service to the place that you choose to live.

As you'll see in many house fires and some other structures, is at a certain time during the fire, trying to save the structure and it's contents, isn't going to happen. The fire has destroyed too much, to save the structure. Tear down and rebuild, as I read in this one. That's why we have insurance. I heard this from an accredited individual, in the fire department.

The houses of today are pretty much a death trap for firefighters due to very poor engineering and poor quality products. It's pretty obvious that the roof components failed before an interior attack could safely be attempted. Other than bringing in an aerial there's not much more that can be done for this other than protect exposures and it being a routine residential house fire, that doesn't constitute bringing one in. They cost significantly more to operate than an Engine.

Just to address what was said in the video; the black smoke is common in today's house fires as a result of so many petroleum based products. Shingles, siding, some forms of insulation and others will produce the black smoke. As far as the pulling of the electrical meter; that is standard in a fire like this in order to reduce danger. Water, electricity and firemen getting mixed together isn't a good idea and so pulling the meter is an old standard. It is something that's done in order to take away one form of danger. It is however more updated to cut the loops in the line as it's safer for the firefighters pulling the meter. All in all not a bad tactical response by your fire department with good use of the deluge deck gun and an internal attack. Obviously didn't see everything from this video but it looks like the fire department did a good job.

oh yeah, and were is that ladder truck ? should be right were the working pumper is right ? and why the chief not wearing any of his fire gear ? and why is he not in the street sector 5 with is neat little table with a freaking radio talking to his officer and seing the whole picture from distance for a good size up ? This is what you get when you have a sub equip, sub trained fire departement and new houses made of cardboard, plastic and glue.
