Nice job. If you want to change the apparent colour-temperature of your headlights, you can use stain glass window paint (available from craft shops) of Humbrol produce a range of yellow stains that'll colour the light. Failing that, you could use coloured plastic film inside the headlamp covers. These techniques also have the advantage of reducing the glare from those LED bulbs, so they're not overly bright for the era. Hope this helps you make those excellent looking cars look even better. Analog and digital. What is the difference?
@dandrawsit49153 жыл бұрын
Analog can only fit two cars on a track at a time and is limited to some of the features of digital, to race more than 2 cars you would need another set of track and controllers, Digital can have up 6 cars as well as have lane changing all on the same track, pitting and fueling, as well as braking

if there was a higher level of detail I would upgrade to 124, somewhat disappointing considering the market on the cars are double or triple the cost of 132. note: toggle switch on digital models is not for polarity. its to enable evolution operation.
@guillermomora61783 жыл бұрын
Sorry, but this video is correct, see below a copy paste from the oficial Carrera FAQ: Can Digital 132 cars also be run in analogue mode, that is on an Evolution circuit? Yes; by pushing down the plunger on the hand-held control set 3 times, Digital 132 cars can be re-set to analogue for the Evolution circuit. According to direction of running, it may also be necessary to change over the switch on the underside of the car
@irock76003 жыл бұрын
@@guillermomora6178 the switch is not specifically for polarity the way it is for evolution models. It’s a digital to analog switch on the 132 cars. At least that’s what Dave from slot car news official stated in a previous video. And he’s an ex carrera employee

I got a Carrera Go set by accident (wanted to gift it to the kid of a good friend but was told no when it was already in my hands, and too heavy to return ship). Now that was fun and all and I got the buzz again and my old man did too. We wish to have a bit more of a realistic experience though with eventually simulated pitstops, pace cars and all that jazz. Now comes the issue... my father has had a stroke and he last half of his sight. So he has to scan left to right to make an image for himself, so you can imagine that those Carrera Go cars are just way too fast for him. Which in our situation would you recommend speed and control wise? Also what's the floor size you have to take into account for that recommended set?

Once you experience the build quality and performance gap between these and Slot.it , Sideways and NSR, cars, Scalextric and Carrera are just toys. For a very small increase in price there is (round!) alloy rims, metal gears, adjustable axles, soft tyres that grip, decent powerful motors and a range of cheap upgrade/replacement parts to make a fast slot-car even faster. You would need to fit your own digital chip if that's your thing.

Carrera makes real tracks, scalextric needs a major redesign. Flimsy and narrow,wont take 1/24 cars. Dont have all the features the carrera tracks have. It matters that's why carrera sells so well. Real slot cars would be a slot.it if your going racing.

Eddie de Beer why you would change to Carrera?
@edteach3r4 жыл бұрын
symbian1530 : long answer to a quick question :) My thoughts, subjectively of course ... While I love Scalextric, I think Carrera has the digital thing so much better organised. They evolved into digital format seamlessly, as indicated by their 132 racing track system. Apart from a variety of lane changers, the functionality of their cars and CU have been designed from the ground up. In comparison, Scalextric have been scrambling to catch up, experiencing endless delays with their ARC system. Everything still smacks of digital being an “add-on”. The contrast is quite stark when viewing videos of both systems in action. The Carrera cars, with the ability to turn lights on when stationery and brake lights (essential for accident-free racing IMO) just seem so much more real. The variety of track designs, including corner lane changers that simulates racing lines, are seemingly endless. I have loved Scalextric since getting my first set in 1967, but they let their advantage slip for too many years and now are scrambling to catch up. It is difficult to find certain pieces, even simple ones such as straight track borders (apparently produced only in limited runs whenever they are able to do so). Scaley had fantastic track pieces in the past (such as that glorious Goodwood chicane that I had save up for monts to be able to buy), not to mention endless track-side goodies. While I race only ARCPro now, I still own all my tracks (including the Goodwood chicane) and 52 cars (most in mint condition) collected over the past 60 years. I applaud Scalextric for trying its best to get back to where it once was ... I just hope it is not too late. I support them whenever possible by buying new cars and following them on social media, but they are facing an uphill struggle.
@iflyrcmike4 жыл бұрын
@@edteach3r I disagree, the arc pro works well and it a good system. The carrera digital is hard to purchase in most countries. Scalextric is literally everywhere.
@jjharson7344Ай бұрын
@@iflyrcmike you both make different points, but both are correct. it is easier to get into Scalextric due to higher availability, I also feel Scalextric is more varied as has more options, but Carrera is better quality, Scalextric cars should come with metal wheels and bushes, it's annoying that they don't and you have to swap them out to make the cars more decent to run or race. I like the OP I have had Scalextric since I was a kid, and if I was to start again I would search out Carrera instead and only purchase a few of the Scalextric cars and convert and tune them. I do race digital Scalextric sets and I will upgrade to ARC when I can be bothered to shell out the £550 quid for the platinum set, but as I have all the previous digital gear, I'm in no rush to do this as my digital set is very adequate. I have the left and right hand pitlane sets, display panel, 6 car starting grid, and refuel pit stop timer etc... and you don't need an app to play it, so I feel it's more accessible and quicker to start racing.
