As an American I always was so cheered by George Michael taking this one but, man, our press (the murdoch press especially) were so perversely ugly in their attack on him. I always wanted to find a way back then to let him know that millions of Americans were opposed to this war based on lies and let him know I personally appreciated his efforts. He just walked straight into the fire and never backed down. No other musicians - most silently supporting what he was doing (at least here in NYC) had the courage to speak up in solidarity with him - they let him twist in the wind. Damn, he is so missed.....❤

It wasn't people (fans, the public) who cared or were focused on his sexuality - it was the ghoulish press, particularly the murdoch owned rags and other right wing media who made so much money on salacious details about not only him but other celebrities; it is such a perverse business to be hounding this man as though he was a war criminal, a man who never hurt anyone - just to invade his precious privacy to make money off of his private life. I never read any of it and it still, till now, still makes me so angry to see how many interviewers had to bring it up for the rest of the man's life. No wonder he preferred staying home so much - the media paid people, police and others for stories about his private life. I am so sorry that such a gentle kind man was such a target of such hate.

Again, here is only 36 years old saying "he's getting old" - he used to stay this frequently before he even hit 40 and then after 40, he talked about himself as though he was so much older. I always found it curious as to why he felt that way for such overall young ages yet. Reminds me a bit of Andrew saying that GM used to say he felt he was going to die relatively young - which, so very sadly, he did.... So missed. And, just watch is 2000 video with Whitney Houston to decide for yourselves if he was "too old" to dance....he's amazing in it (as always)

murdoch and his sick twisted cronies tried so hard for so long to break GM - in any way they could, they took aim at every single thing to try to demean, diminish him and make him run from the public. murdoch is a ghoul - always has been - but, GM was not one who was going to take all that horrid bullying, constant nasty press and keep quiet about it - nor should he have. That a murdoch existed and still exists makes a mockery of journalism. And this interviewer sounds daft - really stupid question - a PR stunt? If he had bothered to look into GM, he would know how ludicrous that was or to think GM's reaction is feeding the "controversy" as thought the press should be allowed to have a field day and GM should keep his mouth shut. This is why I never ever listen (or read) just one interview with someone of whom I am not familiar because you get this sort of slanted crap to satisfy the media outlet's own agenda.
