What you folks don't understand is Brando is reading cue cards off camera left during the end of that whole scene, you can actually catch up glancing up to read them.

At 2:08, the climax of the scene, not only great acting but amazing directing, as the Don moves from being in the background to being in the foreground with Michael now in the background and the emotion of the scene is different somehow. Brilliant performance by both but Brando is at his peak.

It's been two months since I moved out of the house and I miss my pops. Me and him used to have conversations and he'd tell me stuff about his practice and explained things I was curious about. He is a physician and I am a public defender. And there are times when I ask him for help in explaining things I see in medico-legal reports, forensic documents, autopsy reports etc. and how me and him would puzzle a rape scene or a homicide scene and how it fits with open court testimonies and executed documents. Me and him talk like this and I miss him very much. He remarried and my step mother told me he misses me very much and our conversations. My younger brother (a gen z person) doesn't talk too much to pa since he is always on his phone. Whenever I call to pa, he seems more happy and willing to have a conversation. Gonna call him now and tell him i miss and love him!

Did Vito KNOW that there was a traitor that would set up a meeting? Or was it just a prediction/guess, that turned out to be correct?

like all of the greatest actors Brando had it in his face and eyes, he had complete access to his full range of emotions. He wasn't just saying his lines he was living through them. the pure joy in his face when Brando recites back "read the funny papers" even getting lost before continuing onto something else "oh well" just adds a deeper layer of realism for the viewer. Like he's thinking of good times with his children and grandchildren. Absolute goat.

"There just wasn't enough time Michael, wasn't enough time." This is the part where we know the family is done. If only Tom is blood-related, Michael will be able to be a politician and help the family to grow.
@LeahElisheva4 ай бұрын
Michael was better suited where he was. Tom could have been the politician to help the family grow. He would have been good in politics. Helped with those sorts of issues in the 2nd film. Michael also gave him power to be the temporary Don in charge of everyone all of Rocco’s men and everything after the attempt on his life

This is the most powerful scene on the transfer of power from Don Corleone to Michael. This scene was not in the book or script. Coppola knew he needed it but didn't have time to write it. Robert Towne, who wrote CHINATOWN, came in, saw the footage and in one night wrote this scene. The next morning, Coppola and Al Pacino both liked it. Then Towne read it to Brando, who went into a detailed discussion of what each line meant. After the scene was shot, Brando pulled Towne aside and said, "I don't know who you are, but I appreciate that you wrote like crazy to get it done."

Deus alivia as dores, Tenha fé. Perdoe Senhor, meus pecados. Ajude-me a melhorar, sozinho eu não consigo.
