So happy to find this on Gary. I knew him as he was getting started, working with Patsy Bromley at Terpsichore. I was taking the adult classes--no aspiration to become anything professional. Gary was so very talented and so much fun! I loved him and when he would sometimes teach our adult class, it was just wonderful--he was magic. What energy and a great sense of humor! I lost track of what he went on to do, but became aware at some point that he most sadly left this life way too soon--he was so young, so talented, such a wonderful human being. Can anyone here fill me in on what happened exactly to cause his very premature death?

This looks to be the mid 1980's. I met this lineup of The Spinners when I had the distinct pleasure of meeting them and emceeing their show at the Circle Star Theater in San Carlos CA back in the day. So glad I was able to meet my heroes and discover they were every bit as gracious and warm as they were talented. Much love to The Spinners.

Got a chance to meet Gene Griffen when he came to Hot 105.7 back in the mid 90's. He was talking to my Program Director about getting a song on the radio with one of his acts. Of course I didn't have any business with him but he was articulate (like in this interview) professional and seemed like a nice guy. But again we weren't IN business with him. There is a difference.

It got to the point that Teddy was worth over 20 mil, but was only seeing $25,000.Gene backdoored him by slapping his name on the production credits. (Teddy didn't know how paperwork worked. He'd let Gene handle it, and screwed him over publishing, royalties, etc) leaving Teddy bankrupt . then he got a new start by working on Jane Wilds remix and Boy George(which Gene had 0 responsibility for)
