The software is nice, but if you want to watch a bus you're going to need a lot more pins on the analyzer. Even on an 8 bit micro the address bus is typically 16 bits, there's the read / write bit, maybe an enable bit to sync stuff, and of course an 8 bit data buss. 32 bits would work. On ARM you'll need at least double that. The 64 bit CPUs you'd have to examine for pin requirements. Some busses are muxed to fit on half their width, which will save you pins. Lastly, there's the instruction decode for your specific processor. Does the software support it and have a package for it? It's really nice to see the instructions and what PC your at.

I like a dial caliper, but a vernier caliper is not that difficult once you get used to it. By the way, real men use inches, not millimeters. LOL

I noticed my st link is not showing a red light when I plug it in, the light is blue. It won't connect to the target unless the light is red, do you know how to change that or what causes it? I have 4 st links and 2 have red lights and 2 have blue lights. I have upgraded all but the the oldest link (about 2 years old) its light is red and it works fine it has J34 on it and the other ones are J37 or newer.
@mycrostartelectronics3 ай бұрын
To be honest I'll have to look more into this. Do they both work? Because the I had the same thing happen where one of my ST-LINKs has a blue light and the other is red. Both work. I've seen many different ST-LINK clones and they have all worked well for me.
@PatrickMobileHomes3 ай бұрын
@@mycrostartelectronics no, the blue lighted ones won't connect to the target. It is only when the light is red that it connects to the target. Once it connects and I start the program flashing the light on the link flashes red and blue.

from the Salea web site the Logic 2 software seem to work in demo mode (software will create random data tracks) if other than genuine Salea device is connected, from your video you're using a clone copy with the Logic 2 software , is it working demo mode or you get the real input from your device. thank you
@mycrostartelectronics3 ай бұрын
Hello! That was real data coming through. I wouldn't be surprised if Saleae somehow locks their software to only work with their devices. In the future I will be using Pulseview/Sigrok as it has just as many features and seems just as good.

First😊. Dial callipers for me. Easy to read and understand. No battery to run down and with a whole dial turn representing just 1mm, a single digit can go down to 1/100 mm….astonishing! Pay a reasonable amount for quality, mine were 50, but top grade are like 200. Goes without saying…never drop them and never let kids or unknowledgeable people mess with them.

Yep, the dial version is a happy median between electric and vernier-type calipers.

Listen, I get it. When you start out you don't have any money. Saleae offers the software open source, so yes you have every right to use it, don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise. At least acknowledge that fact and encourage people that if they do have the money, you know, help support the people that make the software you use because if they go out of business because everyone goes and buys cheap chinese ip theft in hardware format, well, then the software it all depends on stops. You are doing the same thing that every major corpo CEO in the western world did that screwed over every job that actually made something that was once in the Western world: but they do it so cheap over in China. They use slave labor too, yeah it's cheap. And I mean, there is a reason you don't use sigrok yeah? Yeah.
@mycrostartelectronics4 ай бұрын
Honestly, I didn't even know about Sigrok till after this video. I have since installed it on my computers and actually did a demo on my channel if you want to check it out. m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/rarQg4SIe6uhfNE

@LackofFaithify Where do you see it being listed as open source? They provide free download, but that is a big difference and no it does not mean that people have the right to use it with clones. Will they know and can they do anything about it? That's an entirely different set of questions. The rest of your comment I totally agree with and pointing him to Sigrok and PulseView is the right way to go. Thank you, I think many people just don't know about the open source alternative and just use Saleae's software out of ignorance, not malice.
