First: I'm not American. The USA system boils down to a two-headed one party system. Dem/Rep are crazy close together in almost all views, which also means voting becomes single issue. Realize that in general the two parties alternate office every 4/8 years, meaning the USA mostly moves into the same general direction. Valuing human life is one of those single issues, but what about Russia, military, care for the poor, CBDC, international agreements, NATO and UN? On most of these the position doesn't differ that much. If you are serious about politics, change the system so a truly Christian party can enter the scene and reform the USA to make the government serve the people, instead of the other way around.

RE: THE TRIP TO BRITISH AREAS. How can a believer not seriously be emotionally devastated by Rome's burning of Christian's FOR believing the Lord's Supper and/ or translating the Bible? We appreciate the bravery & fidelity of faith, but it is solemn. Rome should be BEYOND SHAME. I think I'd be righteously angry or solemnly thankful--similar to Memorial Day or Hawaii's sunken ship memorial. How could one be happy there? These memorialize the taking & giving of lives.

Nicaea wasn't called to deal with the canon of scripture specifically, but representatives from all of the Churches in the world, those within the Byzantine empire and many from outside the Empire including Ethiopia and India and Romania all came together for 10 weeks and interacted and compared the canon of scripture used in each local church. By the end of Nicaea while some local churches had larger canons, there was developed a general agreement on the New Testament canon particularly in how they related to the weekly Liturgical schedule and the year long calendar of feast day readings. The canon was chosen primarily to BE the new Pentateuch and Tenach readings in the Christian liturgy which was solidly established within and outside of the Empire at that time. The third century Syriac Liturgy that developed into the Liturgies of John Chrysostom and Basil also used the term "ever virgin" at least 8 times and this Liturgy was attended and participated in by all of the representatives of Nicaea on Sundays and other days of the week. It was universally found to be appropriate from within and outside of the Byzantine empire. Some exotic churches retained larger canons of scripture, but the canon appropriate to the Liturgical readings (gospels, epistles and acts) had almost universal conformity after Nicaea and without any substantial controversy. Revelation of John was included but not part of the Liturgical readings though Rome does read from Revelations now. Nicaea was not just about resolving a question of heresy, it was a way to get representatives, including Bishops, Elders, Deacons AND Laity together to network on common practice of the Liturgy and Nicaea also developed rubrics concerning qualifications for bishops, presbyters, deacons, monks and nuns, who you could marry, how sacraments would be applied, penances for certain sins. The rubrics of Nicaea used Didascalia and the Apostolic Constitution as a template but added clarifications and delineations. The general uniformity within and outside of the Byzantine Empire was profound.
