Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet must rate as one of the greatest orchestral compositions of the 20th Century. This was composed during an extremly fertile musical period of his life. Thank you for this upload. Great audio quality as well as beautifully clear orchestral playing.

I'm not a 5th or 9th man; I love the 4th and 7th as the 2 greatest of all time, but I go back and forth depending on my mood.

Quelle romantique ! 😍🇫🇷🎶👏

In the 1960s, I was a classically trained pianist. I bought a Blood Sweat and Tears album. The first track was Satie Gymnopedies. Had never heard of him, and fell in love with his work. Thanks BST for including this gem for us all to hear for the first time.

This is beautiful! Are there any sort of copyrights to this? I'm part of a team that is currently working on a project around Saint Anthony of Padua, and would LOVE IT if we could use this chants. Please, if you know, let me know who should I contact to have more information about copyright and licences for these chants!

I understand that Debussy heard a gamelan from Indonesia, being played. This is a set instruments including various sized gongs and a kind of xylophone made of wooden bars. It is based o a 6 tone scale, which gives it that oriental or exotic feeling. Then Antonio Carlos [aka Tom] Jobim in Brazil was influenced by Debussy, thus the rich harmonies heard in the Bossa Nova genre, of which Jobim composed the melodies and harmonies of this mellow, slightly spicy genre. The composer of the lyrics for these wonderful songs was Vinicius de Moraes. I actually played the Arabesque no 1 in recital at University of Hawaii in the early 1960s. Now, I enjoy singing the Bossa Nova songs both in Portuguese and in English.
