Sure! You would use a punch card and the tuck setting on the carriage.

How do you do intarsia on the Passap?

There's an intarsia carriage for Passaps called a Picto carriage. It takes patience to use. You drop the front bed, lay the yarn over the needles and then run the carriage across. Jacquard can be done on the E6000, or via punch cards and a Deco attachment on the Duomatic 80 if you were thinking of knitting multi-color patterns.

Good question. Yes, Haley is using a tilt stand. She has dropped the ribber so she can knit on the main bed only. When knitting on the main bed only, it's easier to tilt it forward. A ribber cover is preferable with this type of knitting as well. It doesn't look like we have one here.

Sorry for the late reply. You need the main bed to go with the ribber, I believe it would be a standard gauge machine.

Silver Reed Machines are still in production and can be bought by a dealer. If you go to silverreed.com , you can find a list of dealers. I bought my Passap machine from Knit and Sew in Spring City, PA. They are vintage machines and Tammy who owns the business makes makes sure they are in good working condition. She also sells Brother machines which are similar to the Silver Reed.

With the mask on I can't understand you or hear you properly, even with the sound up full. I have the same machine so I would really love to hear you properly so that I can learn the cast on.

Thanks for the feedback. We made these videos in the Summer of 2020 when masks were mandatory in the studio for our research team. There are multiple cast on videos on youtube to choose from. Good luck getting to know your machine!

Hello, I am wondering if you have figured out how to do a full cardigan with the silver reed? I can't figure it out either.

Hi Sarah, I haven't figured that one out. It may not be possible because the pattern selector is on the main bed. It's easy on Passap machines because they are V-Beds with pattern selectors on both. I confess, I don't use the Silver Reed as much as Passap machines.
