Very interesting.. through our pain and suffering.. hopefully we grow and learn... a lifelong journey of learning 😅 I personally felt I mattered and connected on an existential level, like never before during one of the saddest times; caring for my dying father. ✨️ and felt deprived of that sense of meaning with the lose of my Mother, after caring for so long. Strange to say the feeling of connected to something larger than self.. came in ; nature, and death.. but can also find meaning in doing small simple things 🤔 Hope this makes sense 😅 .

Yes it would seem that Keir’s style has just not gone down well. (DL too). I’m not sure about Xtwitter, I only occasionally venture there, but certainly on YT and in in-person conversations with people, KS does tend to (at the very best) be regarded uninspiring. I generally don’t comment too often on politicians, but there’s something worrying about the lack of connection between KS and much of the population. I really hope he can change! 🤞

I like your attitude that finding meaning & purpose is an ongoing process. It’s a good feeling to discover what is truly important in life. I was having a conversation with a wise friend about not being ruled by money; they were talking about watching movies as a child where it was the be all and end all to the characters when they found a huge treasure chest filled with gold, rich beyond their wildest dreams. They thought this was an odd thing to be excited about; they were right, and as you get older you realise that’s not the thing that’s going to make you feel like you matter in this world. Accept reality; if you’re suffering then suffer, let it hurt until you find peace with it. There is a point to it and things will get better. We can choose who we are, and choose again and again. As humans surely that’s our superpower?
@TimeInvitesDevelopment
@TimeInvitesDevelopment 5 күн бұрын
Thanks for your comment. Much appreciated. I do wonder whether the focus on money (but not everyone and not in every part of society of course) has set much of the human race off on the wrong course. We hear of wonder drugs and efforts to rebuild dwellings after natural disasters etc. etc. all with a hefty 2:16 price tag. Whilst the existence of money can have many benefits, it always seems to me that when we put a price on everything, we’re missing the opportunity to better ourselves, to reach a higher level of development. And yes of course that utopian ideal requires buy-in (no pun intended) from a lot of people. However, perhaps one day. I think your idea about choice being a superpower is very interesting. I think it could definitely be described as a superpower. Perhaps that is a key differentiator between humans and other species. Although I’m never quite sure about the squirrels. They’re always up to something :)
@StormJohnson99

Thanks Mike, a utopian world is within reach I’m sure, but I think mankind is likely to destroy it a little more before that happens! The curse of human consciousness. I assume everything that brings us as close to our nature as a hominid is probably all we need. Purpose was survival of our band of people. If that was going well then there was time left over for the imagination and creativity. I tend to think life is meaningless but I enjoy feeling like I’m meaningless when in awe of the universe and nature.

Thanks for your input! Really appreciate it. I definitely agree that much of the history of the human race was to do with forming tribes to help facilitate survival. And as you say, the curse of human consciousness - yes!There are certainly days when I consider it to be a bit of a cosmic joke! And there are also days when I wonder if it is all for nothing. That there is no meaning. And yet, I find that difficult to accept. And funnily enough when I look out on nature or at the stars, and experience that feeling of wonder, awe, sometimes joy…well those are some of the experiences that make me think that there has to be some meaning in all of it. However, perhaps I’m in denial and/or just being stubborn :)

@@TimeInvitesDevelopment I have a clear memory of my dad telling me there’s more stars in the sky than grains of sand on the beach we were walking on. I was about 7 or 8 and I never forgot it because it was the moment I realized how insignificant I was. I see myself as a bunch of atoms with a consciousness. For people with dementia or a brain injury or people with cluster b personality disorders, they are not searching for meaning at all, so this is kind of a luxury problem for those with a normal IQ and a functional brain. I think it’s useful to think of meaning if you have depression or perhaps in youth in particular but otherwise it’s all about the curse of being aware of your death.

I do think that many people with dementia, particularly Lewy body dementia, are capable of searching for & finding meaning. Even in late stage with limited abilities to care for themselves, or communicate with much clarity, you can see moments in amongst the cruelty of it, where they show that they are still able to feel joy, shame, fear of their own mortality, a sense of self, even on occasion to show empathy, love & concern for another person. We may never know what these poor souls are thinking but I like to hope that they still have meaning in their lives until they depart. When I say, “That was when Jaws clicked.” I mean, that was when he realised Dolly would have no part in the supervillains genetically perfect super race. James Bond knows Jaws loves Dolly, and whatever fix James is in as part of the big final scene- it’s only because of Jaws’s super strength, so if James can turn Jaws to his side, he will defeat the baddie, (Drako?) James gets him talking his future plans and about how the genetically imperfect will be disposed of and Jaws looks at Dolly realising he means her. I am remembering this from a very different scene to the ones you showed, very near the end. As I was quite young watching this for the first time, (probably on VHS) my dad was basically explaining the plot to me. Therefore I remember it was her eyesight, not her teeth that made Jaws switch sides. And probably smash up the space lazer or whatever it was. I have not seen the film in about a decade nor looked at any media about it since first seeing your TT. Blame the word limit over there. But cheesiest of all is that last line from Dr Goodhead, “James, take me round the world one more time!” 🤮

I just can’t remember if it’s because Jaws has him in a headlock and releases him or sabotages the crucial equipment. Did it ever occur to you that Bond gadgets are very like 1960s Batman utility belt, if he needs shark repellent then he just happens to have it, if he needs an explosive pen, then he has that.
