Nice guitar ;) I like how there are window frames in the back as you sing about a picture in a frame. They transformed into picture frames in my imagination as the song played.

BTW, Is there anyone out there who can, or knows how one can read a 3 1/2" or 5 1/2" floppy formatted from a C1571 or C1581 drive? Maybe it's time the full real Star Trek game was available.

Depends on where you live. I'm in Minnesota, US. Have both a 1571 and 1581, along with C64 and C128/128Dcr systems. They worked last I knew, though they've been turned off for a while now. As long as they're not copy protected, should be able to read them. Let me know if I can be of any help.

Find someone with a KryoFlux device. That can archive data from any disk media (using commonly available PC 3.5" or 5.25" drives, doesn't have to be the original drive model), as it reads/stores the raw magnetic signals, not sectors or bytes. From there it can be identically reproduced, can be decoded, or preserved in any other way. Unfortunately I don't have one, but I am aware of the techniques - hopefully to prevent someone from sloppy copying it or ruining the original :)

FYI, although this video is sim # 125, there were millions of possible simulations. If memory serves, 5 million I think. As mentioned, if you die, just start the same sim number again.

I guess that's why I never saw a repeat of the star base locations or Klyron ships. That helped the replay value a lot. I enjoyed everything from the intensity of the battles to the curiosity behind the star system names. Some were obscure names for stars (Hadar and Mimosa come to mind), and it made me curious about astronomy.

Hi Everyone, This is Dave N. I wrote this game in 1982 to 84. I'm glad people are still enjoying it. It was originally offered on CompuShare and from me directly. I still have my C128, C64 was donated away. Unfortunately I can't play it anymore.

@@jmp01a24 in 1982 the C64 was released with absolutely no software available. Being that the Commodore PET was out, there was a simple grid Star Trek game available. This was the foundation of the C64 version. I re-wrote everything to utilize the Sprite graphics, the sound, and anything else I could use. It was just a distraction as I was newly laid off from my job and back then there wasn’t much work available. I have a bad (or good) habit of always trying to improve things, and the game was my way of fulfilling this. By 1984 or 85 I had updated the code to use all 64K plus the underlying Kernal memory. It was written in basic and machine code. When it was marketed by Green Valley Publishing in 1986, I was asked to not use the Star Trek names and life like images, so what you’re watching is this version. However, I still have the original actual Star Trek copies. I still have all the coding printed out and now my eyes spin looking at the machine code. Unfortunately, my C128 has retired itself and I can’t play the game anymore. I still have all the equipment, but I can’t load it. I really would like to play it again, and maybe someday I’ll find someone who has a Windows based version or can load my original real Star Trek version.

I was searching all over for this game, trying to remember what is was. All I knew was it was surely an "unofficial" Star Trek rip-off/clone and the enemies were called something like Klaxxons, then it hit me: "Klyrons" your video was one of the first things to pop up and I recognized the art and music immediately. That theme song was a rip-off of something I'm sure. It got stuck in your head.
@Crewsware
@Crewsware Жыл бұрын
Actually the theme song was not copied from anything else. It was written by a friend of mine at the time. There are some similarities to Paramount's Star Trek, but that all.

@@Crewsware Nice! I may have been referring to the dramatic battle music. It's so iconic. It being burned into memory is likely the result of the countless hours spent playing it. I don't think the deep affection for the game came through in my original comment. I should have used the term "amazing homage" rather than rip-off. This is one of the most enjoyable and addictive Star Trek-ish games I've ever played. I loved the ability to divert energy from different systems as needed. And the destruct sequence was perfect. Spent hours playing this, with a nephew and other friends as well that I inducted into Star Trek fandom. It was a much beloved part of my youth.
