Having to shown receipt while leaving the store is INSANE! What if you bought a hat last week and are wearing it? Do you need a receipt for that!? Walmart LITERALLY has VIDEO CAMERAS all over the store looking for shoplifters…

You don't have to show it its against the law to stop any and to ask them to prove they bought the items . Unless the door alarm gos of then they have a right to check it out . Other than that nope they have no rights . You can walk out with the biggest tv as long as you bought it . They don't make bags that big

Every time walmarts asks for a receipt BEFORE you go through the anti-theft gates, they are calling you a thief. If they want to check receipts they have to post the policy and enforce it with EVERYONE which means lines to pay and lines to exit.

Showing a receipt isn't illegal search and seizure it's checking to make sure you didn't steal it and refusing to show it makes you look like a thief and an idiot.

This is the main reason why I do not shop at Walmart anymore. There are plenty of other options out there. I don't care if I have to drive a few miles out of town to buy my groceries. Walmart will never get my money again.

I usually stuff my receipts in my back pocket. (Pocket filing cabinet) They never ask to see your current receipt just your receipt. So i show the first receipt my hand hits, wave it around then put it back in my pocket. Never had a problem .

In america you have to proof the suspect is guilty you can't detain him unless you have evidence. Also metal detectors exist there is no reason they should not be working when Walmart is a multi Billion dollar company when little stores have there metal detectors working just fine.

It's individual store policy, as long as you are on their property or in their store. They can ask to see receipt because some people don't scan all merchandise, they only scan some or just pretend to scan and then push it out of store. Retail stores have re-accurring theft everyday/every week.

Of course they can ask...... however you as the shopper have every right to decline the request. All the store can do is ban you. They can't hold and detain you against your will because you declined a request.
