100% truth. The director is one of those feminist, pompous, artsy fartsy types. Don't get me wrong, I love art, and she covers important issues, but there's a windbag narcissistic aura about her. You know the type, the I am woman, hear me roar through my vintage everything while I articulate myself in such a way that is just too deep for most to understand, type. Ugh

Interesting thoughts, thanks ...everything I read seems to indicate neither Disney, Lucasfilm or the actors were content on the L&M set...that Kasdan was sent in to find out what was going on. Apparently, and this was supported by many of the actors, L&M were trying to go for a loose, hip, almost improvised vibe...but the actors felt more untethered, unfocused: indeed, the acting coach for AE was specifically because he wanted to find a way to portray something more like a what a young Harrison Ford might be like and L&M were not helpful in that regard, giving him little direction to achieve that and Eirenreich felt it was important. Plus, as Lucasfilm started looking at the dailies with serious intent...they saw L&M were going more for a comedy vibe (think more like 21 Jump Street, Starsky & Hutch or Land If The Lost, purportedly) and that wasn't the film they set out to make. With the cast feeling adrift and the shot stuff not matching the swashbuckling adventure vibe they hoped for...they made the change. As a guy who is the an older version of the kid who sat in a movie theater in 1977, awed at what he'd seen...I know I wasn't looking for a Solo movie that was a hip comedy: I'd had my fill of childhood heroes remade as sarcastic dummies through various remakes...I wanted, hoped for a full on Han Solo adventure...and since virtually every hero gets an origin movie, this was it. I found the movie fun as all heck, loved it when I saw it in the theaters, it continues to grow in stature with each viewing. I wanted a SW tale that brought the fun, excitement and derring do the first 3 films did so well and, for me, Solo delivers it in spades ! I absolutely hate that the fools were able to social media this thing to death so it never got the chance to shine at the box office because it's a really good SW adventure. Thanks for sharing your thoughts

Herbie Herbert sounds like the fake name I'd come up with if i got pulled over by the cops after a 12 hour shift at Chuck E. Cheese... Don't Stop Believing is overplayed but IMO doesn't suck because of vocal skill and sweet guitar solo. Put it in a pile with Sweet Home Alabama, Hotel California, Wonderwall...

Didn't even know there were additional seasons, but sad to hear How To with John Wilson fell off. I was introduced to this show when I walked into a friend's house a few minutes into the Scaffolding episode, which is the best example of that whole transcending the mundane concept and easily the funniest episode of the show. Having no context for it beforehand added to the experience, because it was easier to buy for the first few minutes that it was a normal documentary type show. But I gotta say that the novelty factor of that first season added so much to it, and I am a little surprised even a second season was made.
@blaineduncan4695 Жыл бұрын
Hey Jeremy! Yes, you're right. It's hard to stop watching the first time you see it. The second season still manages to dig into life in a weird way. I suppose it's just the idea got old. I also sense that Wilson stopped caring as much as he did originally.
