I’m not a huge fan of this recording of his. The saxophone orchestra is amazing, however very much limited him. I could tell he was trying to play louder to go over the sax orchestra which greatly affected his tone. In the 2nd movement you can hear he sounds great at the beginning before the sax orchestra comes in. However his tempo is way too quick and unsatisfying. The cadenza in Animato Molto ends with the optional altissimo lines, but rather than going up and completing the scale and ending on a complete feeling note, he instead just goes up to the note that is either right before the note or two behind it. And he holds it out, and it has no value to the piece, I would’ve preferred he just didn’t play the altissimo scale whatsoever if he was going to do that. I saw a comment mention his use of taking the altissimo passage being very unmusical in larghetto, however even taking it down the octave would not save the musicality with his immense tempo that he was already at. I also do not dislike Claude Delangle, but the fact that he is so experienced as a player, and is regarded as one of the greats of our time, really makes me wonder how he could have played it like this. Especially considering this was an event for the 200th anniversary. Was it a performance with no rehearsal? Was the sax orchestra preferring the conductor leaving Claude Delange struggling to take the tempos that should be used? I do like his other recording of this piece, I apologize as I’m not trying to be mean, I am holding him to a standard!
Ciao Claude sei grandissimo! Un abbraccio Gilberto Monetti Bo It.

Hello! I really admire your performance, recently I’ve found on Apple Music Jean Baptiste Singele’s “Premier quatuor pour saxophones soprano, alto, ténor et baryton, Op. 53: I” in Andante-Allegro by you, Yasuhiro Shinohara et al., and wanted to send this beautiful execution to my friends, who don’t have Apple Music subscribtion, but unfortunately couldn’t find this one anywhere else( I’m really sorry to bother, but couldn’t you please guide me, if there’s a free version of that composition anywhere?🥺
