As far as I know Stephen Kember ( Brian ) was never in anything else before or since this show, I've seen the actors playing his parents in a few things though.

The tune Brian's mum was playing ( Or trying to ) was called "The Mocking Bird Song".

I recall this being filmed at an old disused military camp at Tonfannau on the Mid wales coast. My mother worked at the camp in the early 1970s when it was used to accommodate many of the Asians expelled from Uganda by Idi Amin. I lived just up the road at the nearby quarry.

0:18 "If you can't do that perhaps it's time we replaced you with a machine that's a tad more sophisticated." - Feels like the end of this line was cut. I was expecting him to say something along the lines of "a tad more sophisticated…like an Etch-a-sketch."

I loved The Clangers as a kid, and Ivor The Engine. Fun fact, The Clangers has actual swearing in the dialogue. They should have had their mouths washed out with soup by The Soup Dragon.

This was also the very last show to use the original theme tune that was used since its 1976 launch (also shared with the rendition version that was used for the 1979-80 series), as for the next (and the very last) series come Autumn debuts the ''Hello Hello'' as its main theme tune while the Brown Sauce song ''I Wanna Be a Winner'' was only used in special occasions.

This took place just around 5 months before the infamous but rather emotional Summer Olympics of the same year which took place in Moscow, Soviet Union which the UK is one of the few remaining countries to give the games a go ahead instead of joining the boycott like how America and several 67 countries avoiding the attendance to the games and also refused to take part in its live TV coverage.

New Year's Eve 1979 into 1980 saw BBC 1 look back at the best of light entertainment and comedy on the BBC of the 1970s linked together by Penelope Keith at 10.40pm. They then went live to Big Ben at midnight, and then a Scottish live show hosted by Reginald Bosanquet which ran on until 12.50am.

Television Centre is still here in 2025, just that it only has three studios now instead of the original eight it had. Back in the mid 1980s when this was filmed, the centre was so busy. Today Studio TC1 is the only general entertainment studio there, TC2 and TC3 are now block booked by ITV Daytime shows.

Pretty sure this is 25th August 1982. There was an edition of Top Crown (BBC2 slide glimpsed at beginning) just before ITN News; impending news of nurses to reject 7.5% pay rise - ballot was on the 26th August; newspaper articles appearing 25th August regarding E.T. merchandise and US marines arrived in Beirut 25th.

Creatively it was his script editors that largely left their mark, although he gave them a lot of freedom to do this. Christopher H Bidmead’s tenure was very different to Andrew Cartmel’s. Ditto Eric Saward’s. And the change from the Douglas Adams/Graham Williams era was very noticeable.

The fourth episode of Horns of Nimon on 12 January 1980 was the last of the 'Seventies' era of Who. Eight months later, producer John Nathan-Turner's long, innovative tenure began, and Doctor Who was never the same again.
