Unless the renewable energy is powering carbon capture and storage, it can never have negative emissions as stated in this presentation. Conventional PV will have small but positive emissions due to maintenance operation (inverter replacement, wiring and connector replacement and the like). This means the whole presentation is based on a false premise. I may well have misunderstood this aspect, and would be very grateful to have my understanding corrected.

Too expensive for heating only running water. Call me once you can hear the house with one of these as well. Keep the good work!

Yeah, probably a good idea if you're going to have a heat pump installed. Get one of these instead of a buffer tank or even keeping a gas boiler in the loop. Seems to me as if you could also save on needing far larger Rads that you'd need for most heatpump installs if you have one of these. Things that bother me though are all examples on cost are given with heat pumps, none with direct grid power. I'm guessing that even if you got to 98% efficient, and charging this thing on a cheap rate electricity tariff, it would still cost 1.5 x a gas boiler. Secondly, no questions about flow rate. Only 15 liters held in the system right? Is flow rate just down to your mains water pressure? Could i turn on two showers at he same time would be a question i have. Another question would be, how do you stop the battery discharging once you start? In other words, the phase change is usually unstopable. Any answers would be welcome.

How does this work "on demand"? I can see how you start the reaction, but how do you stop the reaction in the thermal battery when heating is no longer required?
