I have some roses (especially English roses in southern Spain climate). Some of them survive but others just start having droopy leaves (green) and then they start having problems with their stamps because they dry out and the rose is lost. I’ve tried watering less, watering more….. but was it starts going like this they usually die. do you know what this could be? Thank you very much.

What is better for frost seeding? Korean or common Lespedeza?
@MUIPM25 күн бұрын
Both can be successfully frost-seeded. But, we would recommend common annual lespedeza as Korean types may be susceptible to foliar diseases.
@SamVigue-jl9qk22 күн бұрын
@ Okay, it’s hard to find seed for common lespedeza. The one guy in my area who grew some had a crop failure last year
@SamVigue-jl9qk22 күн бұрын
@@MUIPM what’s the proof that it’s susceptible to leaf disease? I haven’t found anyone in my area with that problem and common lespedeza seed is either 3 times the price or not available. Also very few mention online is people selling or growing common varieties compared to Korean. Do you have some more information about why this is and what kind of loss from leaf disease?
@MUIPM20 күн бұрын
@@SamVigue-jl9qk In the 1940’s Korean Lespedeza was used widely throughout the state. It fell out of popularity in part due to its susceptibility to bacterial wilt, tar spot, and other diseases. Substantial yield reductions were be observed. See extension.missouri.edu/publications/g4515. Foliar diseases in this plant may not be observed by practicing good grazing management, in a diverse pasture.

60 inches of growth in 60 days?!?. not if you have infertile sandy soil. I got maybe 3 or 4 feet of growth after 3 months or so. Southern Ontario by Lake Erie, across the Lake from Cleveland. I'm still happy with the beautiful yellow flowers. apparently no chance of sedding in my climate (zone 6b). I'll plant another 50 lb bag next spring for the bees and plant diversity /nitrogen fixer to improve my sandy soil. it compliments my crimson & red clover and hairy vetch nicely. Bees love me.

I've submitted possible Rose Rosette Disease samples to the MU Plant Diagnostics Clinic and got very thorough and fast results. I'm sure I'll use them again, since that virus doesn't seem to be going away any time soon and can be tricky to positively diagnose in some cases.

Go to minute 1:52 in the video. Use a light colored plastic guard or tree wrap. You should be able to find both at your local hardware store, garden center or an online retailer.

For us, straw is vital. More important than the mulch value, it provides a home for wolf spiders, who do the lion's share of our cucumber beetle and squash bug control early in the season. But you can't put down enough mulch for the summer annual weeds. I'd like a lot more discussion of summer weeds in organic squash.

I’m not technically qualified to ‘disagree’ with you- but from my experience, I don’t believe it to be a water problem. I believe if it was a water problem, you could contain it. This problem will spread to all your leaves if left on the vine- leading me to assume it’s an actual disease. If I cut off the leaf in question early enough, it can solve the issue. Perhaps preventing it from occurring at all is the solution- but I’m not sure I agree so much with the water theory

Thanks my Blueberry plant I purchased from a nursery, I put it outside without hardening it off. Well the leaves purplish paint splatter in the middle of the leaves, while the outsides are crispy brown with the brown making its way to the center of the leaves, also the younger leaves towards the bottom of the plant had that water color look, I guess its called chlorophyl but not as purple as the older ones but still brownish on edges. Im just going to pull all the damaged leaves off, there is only like a few leaves on it. Cover with shade cloth at hottest parts of the day and just see what happens. Also noticed the stem isnt that normal grassy leathery green its more of a yellowing green.

If you would like to confirm your findings, you can start the identification process by submitting photos to the University of Missouri Plant Diagnostic Clinic: extension.missouri.edu/programs/plant-diagnostic-clinic/digital-sample-submission.

There are two plants often referred to as "Moonflower" that produce very similar, white, night blooming flowers. All parts of Jimsonweed/Thornapple/Devil's Trumpet (datura stramonium) are extremely toxic (potential fatal) to many animals, including humans. It forms intensely spikey seed pods and has a bushy growth habit. Moon Glory/Moonvine (ipomoea alba) is mildly toxic to humans and other animals. It is a vining plant with smooth seed pods.

I was a Cocoras observer while working in our local Farm Service Agency office. I no longer am but until the last rainfall, for years posted in my Facebook page where people could post their rainfall totals. It educated people that ‘all farming & gardening are local’ as areas varied widely on rainfall amounts- even people next door to each other.

Symptoms will depend on the type of herbicide and how much landed on the plants. Our MU Extension Plant Diagnostic Clinic may be able to assist further. Visit extension.missouri.edu/programs/plant-diagnostic-clinic for instructions on submitting samples.

The amount of water applied to a crop depends on the size of the plant and the weather conditions. The “screwdriver test” is a simple way to gauge soil moisture.
