I love making granny squares. And saw this. Your Christmas tree is so cute! And such a clever idea. Thanks for sharing!. Mandy uk 🇬🇧 xxx😊

Thank you. And this is also perfect to use all the yarn scarps. I made a few of these trees from leftover yarn from socks. The yarn was thiner, so I made more rows. I am also a fan of granny squares. This year, I even made a cardigan from two hexagon granny squares. I love how simple the pattern for a granny square can be and how much you can do with just a little color change. A pillowcase for the sofa is still on my to-do list and I know I will be using granny squares for that.

@TheCrochetCircle yes, I use scraps up too!. Aww, your pillow sounds a fantastic idea!. They are super easy! Super quick! And super colourful!. I love the stitch!. / pattern. A cardigan sounds awesome!. I have so many things to try using my granny squares. Mandy x

Looks like a coral. Trees branches go from thick to thin. Would have been more easy to dip or soak it if you want to change color. If you want to do it with a brush again use stiff short hair brush.
@TheCrochetCircle9 сағат бұрын
It does look a little bit like coral, but I will put leaves on the branches, and it will become a tree. I have learned my lesson with crocheting and watercolor paints. I am always covered in paint almost up to my elbows. Thank you for the tip, I will try using a shorter brush next time.

You are correct. Tucking the corner INTO the bottom of the tree, looks much cleaner and smoother. Thank you for this tutorial, for this technique. I plan to use it alot! Thank you for sharing.

Thank you. I will also make a few more. I’m thinking of poking a stick in the bottom and placing the other end in a cork or something similar so it can stand. Perhaps I’ll make a forest with the crochet granny square trees.

What size hook did you use?

It was a 3.5mm crochet hook. For the number of rows I was going for about 11cm side lenght of the square.

Perhaps with micro crochet technic... So smaller croche thook and thinner yarn.

I've already sent an email but I'd like to comment here if anyone goes to the website and wants to follow the written instructions for this letter there's a mistake. When your doing the 2nd part and get to row 23 on the 2nd part it says ch1,8sc,ch6,8sc. The diagram however shows ch1,8sc,inc,ch6,8sc. The diagram is correct. After ch1,8sc in the written instructions you have an extra stitch before the ch6. If you skip it and ch6 you wind up with only 22 sts.
@angelanicholas865114 күн бұрын
Also right off the bat row0 says ch9 but the diagram shows ch19.
@TheCrochetCircle13 күн бұрын
Thank you! Must have missed it.. thank you for pointing it out. I was able to fix it. So R0 is a chain of 19 stitches and R23': ch1, 8sc, inc, ch6, 8sc (last 8sc are worked into R22) Thank you. I hope you were able to make your crochet letter and I apologize again for my mistake.

Hi if using DK roughly how much yarn would you need? thanks
@TheCrochetCircle2 ай бұрын
That is hard to say, but you can do a test run to see how much yarn you need for a row of, let's say, 20 single crochet stitches. In this crochet letter 'K,' there are 30 rows with about 16 single crochet stitches in each row (give or take one or two). That comes up to about 480 single crochet stitches. But to make it a nice round number, let's say 500. So if you multiply the amount of yarn you need for 20 single crochet stitches by 25, you can get an estimate of how much yarn you need. You can do that by measuring the length of yarn you need for those 20 sc stitches, because for the weight of the yarn, I think - well, at least my scale wouldn't show any changes. Hope this helps.
