I believe they require a 'CE declaration of incorporation' that you then compile into your declaration of conformity.

If you are end user and have a machine which is already CE marked by manufacturer. Now you do modification inhouse e.g. you have a heavy lid (opening is aided with gas struts) that you want to further secure from falling to worker ( in case of gas strut failure. And to do that you place a locking support strut that secures the lid (fail to safe) that you made inhouse. Now do you need a CE marking for this new support strut (single component) or not? Are there any requirement to somehow test this component? Wich part of regulations address this issue, where to look? Thanks

@@nikolamilenkovic8441 - the answer is no as you are not 'selling' the equipment or fundamentally changing its operation as this is a minor safety enhancement modification. If however you are making a more fundamental change in the future you will need to ensure the design is 'safe' and compliant with PUWER regulations as the end user (CE in effect hands over to PUWER as the 'user'). My suggestion would then be to risk assess your design , and keep together with the original machinery documentation as evidence. Routing maintenance and inspection will apply as per other machinery elements. If you are modifying any interlocks or safety systems, there are specific regs to follow.

So if its just a safety improvement no CE requirements for the machine to add an top of one that is already there, and this is if there are no substancional modification done to the machine that fall under Machinery directive.
