This video is over 4 years old but in 2024 some of tips explained here are what I have adopted into my editing workflow and now I can never complete a wedding film without using the techniques I've learnt here. Thank you so much Aaron. You may not know me but trust me you have helped me a great deal as a wedding videographer and editor.

In all humility, very nice video. If you want simple, streamlined and compact, why not use Canon xf605 as your main shooter? You have all zoom range you need. I can’t see how you stay on a 50 all day. What if you get into a church that your 200 can’t reach the bride because of thee rules. How do you shoot a grand entrance on a 50? You have great optical gear but your audio is average. Why not use Lectrosonic diversity lavs? Stay away from 2.4ghz. Very risky. Thank you 🙏🏿

maybe i'm biased because I own the mavic 2 pro, but these comparisons, there's sort of an inexplicable vibe that the 2 pro has over the 3. Maybe the 3 is cleaner....... while the prores would be very nice, i think it's not quite worth the upgrade.

My process for culling B-roll of the location(s) is pretty similar to yours. I like to start with a wide reveal, then a detail shot or two, then a wide of a different part of the location, followed by a couple more detail shots, etc. It seems logical. I usually shoot these shots already in order when I'm on location, so laying them out in the timeline in that same order is simple, a no-brainer--I just highlight all in the gallery and drag down into the timeline. It gets tricky when I have some of these shots captured on my GoPro and some captured on my DSLR, or when I want to intersperse shots of the bride and groom getting ready.

The GoPro is a life saver at weddings! In addition to using it to record epic wide shots of the location and dynamic dollies around the bride and groom during formals, I mount it on top of my DSLR using a hot shoe adaptor as a second camera from the same location, just to have that extra data security in the event my DSLR happens to fail. Plus I run the GoPro footage through Reelsteady Go image stabilization software for unparalleled smoothness.

i think the idea of community is awesome, but people and companies may not want to network, they are there to do work, and get business, but i guess it might help if (services offered by individuals are made available to all who use the place, it might help), but i agree, productivity does increase for me, im at spaces too, in singapore.. however, spaces in singapore its relatively expensive, about $10k for a 300sqft space, but its much better then working from home.. its the weekend and i cant make myself do any work..

Your comparison means little unless you disclose the settings used for each footage. If you felt compelled to upgrade because you found the image quality of the Mavic 3 to be just one hair above the M2P, good for you. People with common sense will not upgrade till they see not just one hair, but a lock of hairs in IQ.

The Mavic 3 is good, but at a side by side comparison with the Mavic 2 Pro you can barely tell. I think when the Mavic 4 comes out and is released it will be worth the upgrade.

First off I want to say i do appreciate this comparison and mostly agree with the results. There are reasons that I will discuss below as to why I feel this way but I wanted to start out with that. There are a few things that i am curious about in terms of how each system was configured and what render settings were used. Typically i would discount this type of comparison based on the limited knowledge you seem to have on the specs of both machines, BUT for the majority of people knowing everything about the specs of their machine and how to configure everything correctly to get the best performance is not something that everyone knows how to do, or in most cases, has time to do. So, despite my feeling that the results for the custom PC could be improved, I do think this is a good comparison video because in my experience being a "tech guru" first and video editor second and having met people who were the other way around, there is a lot of settings and optimizations that the majority don't know how to do or what to look for and most of them will just stick to the defaults of whatever the render format they selected is. You could go into detail about all the various settings that can be set in each program for rendering videos and having worked with both i have a fairly good idea of what to use and what to look for. But, I am also the kind of person that when getting a new computer will spend the first 4-6 hours after setting it up benchmarking and stress testing it to find what the limits are and what settings will allow it to perform the best. My sister recently purchased and AI Denoising program to help fix her images when shooting in low light. After she bought it i downloaded it on all my machines and tinkered with it to see how it would compare on my machines(them being an custom gaming pc and a macbook air), this is not something my sister thought to do or even had the desire to do but I was curious. So last thing I want to iterate is that although I am sure that some settings could be adjusted and hardware clock speeds could be adjusted to improve the test results of the export times, the general user or video editor does not have the time to spend hours figuring out the best config for their setup so Apples M1 wins this one due to it being ready to go and stable.

I have a 3070 for gaming, editing, and work, but playback on this PC isn't great and sooo much better on M1. Not to mention, it's also great to separate both gaming and work on different computers.

This video was made for my soul ♡ You got me motivated to start editing more efficiently, I have been shooting weddings for the past 7 years! It was my childhood dream to become a photographer so when I landed my first job in this domain everything I started learning when I was a kid from other talented people on YT started to make sense. The new colleagues I met helped me develop the skills I already learned like composition, editing ps/pr/lr and also learn new ones like flying drones, using external flash lights, managing the equipment bags for the whole team and experiencing client communication for the first time aming others helped me get more and more into this specific line of business, among other skills I mastered, having an unlimited access to a large colection of equipment and being able of handling solo weddings by the age of 18 didn’t hurt at all especially when receiving constant feedback and constructive criticism from everyone involved in managing these events. Of course nothing is perfect and life should be like that sometimes not being paid on time, having to do so much extra work for no extra compensation, and of course WORK DRAMA! 😂 I was living the life at its fullest with all it’s ups and downs. Well, now with the weddings season ending, the editing season started when my boss offered me a new PC and with no savings for the winter I thankfully accepted amd entire pertofolio of weddings to edit and cash some check to keep the dream going!!! Lately I have been battling the worst depressive episode after the sudden loss of not one but two of my aunts within a few months from eachother among other things in my life that managed to put me a bit down and it got increasingly hard to focus on my day to day tasks but your video helped me get back on the grind so I want to thank you for inspiring me and relighting the flame that flickered so faintly, you clearly know you weddings😂 P.S.: Sorry for the trauma dump I imagine this escalated pretty quickly😂

Mh but you only render with the cpu (Native)?! The RTX3070 doesn't work on Native... When you switch the Encoding= Nvidia, the Costum PC wins easily! ;) Not a good comparison between 12 cores cpu vs 32 cores cpu... :D

consider the price of the macbook pro max, it makes a lot more sense to use so much cash to build a really powerful PC for all your needs including gaming editing etc , Because most of people use their computer not only for editing h265 but also do other stuffs. But if you editing video and on the go a lot, then you have no second choice other than macbook.

Plural Eyes back then did it so much better than all the rest! I don’t know if Premiere does syncing with multiple tracks at once now. I switched to Resolve about a year ago and it’s almost just as good as Plural Eyes back then. At the time, it was worth every penny

I always wait for prices to go down. Everybody got excited about the 3, and now looking at the comparison, which was really well done, I can't see spending so much more for the 3. A couple of shots look better, but almost $2,000 better ? Not really.

well... I wonder how did you do slow down PC to let the macbook win? Outdated driver? Some PCI-E problems? Forgot to plug in the fans? For me a notebook with 3060@115w is 6 times faster than m1 Pro in pretty every GPU related task.

He render only with cpu's (Native)! Its a comparison of a 12 cores cpu vs 32 cores cpu (M1). When he would switch to GPU on the custom, the rtx3070 wins easily vs the 32cores or the internal M1 GPU!

Question: Some job descriptions explicitly state that you should have your own Mavic 2, Mavic Air, Mavic Mini, or Phantom for the job. They haven't said Mavic 3. Do you think they'll let the Mavic 3 pass? I'm a new pilot with a Holy Stone 720E looking for something for more commercial usage and I'm unsure which to pick. Also some websites have stopped promoting the 2 Pro.

Probably should let people know you are using a 3 year old cpu in the title. Technology isnt standing still. Cpu performance can triple per watt in that time line which kind of renders the entire test useless no?
