@@mrfrost99j82 the original builders had nothing under it, but we were just fixing this one small section of siding. They definitely should have had something under there but it was outside of the scope of our project.

Nothing lasts forever. Im in Texas and have used shark bite fittings for 20 years in some jobs and none have failed, even the ones in the ground that outlasted the copper lines that got pinholes.

They work fine in places you can get to them. I wouldn't recommend putting them inside any wall they are not a permanent fix .

I was always a bit skeptical of those fittings… yet, they do seem to be a quick, easy option… having used a couple on a few repairs lately (exposed in basement )

They are a great temporary solution. And being in a basement with visible access it’s not a big issue if you use them. It’s more of being behind walls and in at attic, when they leak they can cause mold issues.
