This was taken during my time in San Francisco I got to run the Embarcadero, fisherman’s wharf and all around Market Street I had to dodge human feces and needles but that was all part of the experience 😅

Does fishing count?
@RyanRunsFar-1738Ай бұрын
Sure! It may be better to get a bit more movement like a walk or light bike. But with fishing you’re mildly active. At the least you’re outside and low HR.

Swimming is not recovery. Sleeping is
@RyanRunsFar-1738Ай бұрын
Swimming is absolutely active recovery Sleep is also extremely important
@mistermunchАй бұрын
All sleep is rest but not all rest is sleep. Rest includes what it known as active recovery. (When you’re sore, a dr will tell you to stretch and move around). Any low impact movement is usually good active recovery. Swimming is one of the best active recovery exercises because the bouyancy of water drastically decreases the impact on your joints and muscles. Also swimming increase blood flow. Essentially, you can move more freely in water with less force and…impact. That is why it is such a highly recommended activity for overweight people or those with joint or muscle disease (like arthritis or muscular dystrophy.) I also advise you to look into the study done by the International Journal of Sports Medicine. They found that athletes who swam on just a single recovery day were able to work out longer than those who took it easy (aka your method:”sleeping.”)
@SpeedStackingHumanАй бұрын
@@mistermunch I’m on the swim team and after practice I’m usually sore and I’m aware that it has health benefits but I didn’t think it was a recovery thing

@RyanRunsFar-1738 On every mile I did I tried to keep a consistent pace of a mile I felt like I could keep for at least 3 miles, and then just always give it your all and let yourself know that you can do it or what I do is listen to music, and that helps tremendously for me, however since I'm a senior in HS they don't let us run with headphones in for a race 👍

I go no headphones anyways, but yea I tend to go out just a touch too hard and that 3rd mile is brutal for me.
