Hey Andrea! Sorry you're getting hit from multiple sides- can overwhelm the best of us. I'm not in your league (I love your playing and voice so much) but as a fellow guitar player I can relate to how much it sucks not being able to play- I got this random nerve flare-up in my left elbow - cubiital tunnel syndrome its called- has numbed my pinky to where I can't use it, and I am so humbled without my 4th finger to use on the fretboard it is the ultimate bummer. Slowly getting better - I think. But I am looking into any successful methods at reducing inflammation- perhaps could help your knee. I'll be sure to attempt to pass it along if I discover anything useful. But, it's given me the reminder I want to up my pretty pitiful game on Ableton and my synth/pad MIDI, so trying to make a success of the bad fortune. Also, last thing- I've seen your fantastic guitar collection- their necks at least- in the back of some of the reactions I watched you do. But since you are traveling, my Koa Taylor Mini - purchased for road trips and travel- quickly became the only acoustic I ever reach for, it sounds glorious and is so fun to play, and I remember being so happy every time I picked it up when I first got it especially, still does, but you probably have your guitar wants down already, but figured no harm in sharing my experience for a pick me up! I think "painting" is such a beautiful expression. Maybe 'fainted on a train in Japan, then I felt some one take my hand...." you are the pro - sorry!!!! Take care of yourself over there please 🙏 Peace/

I look at the music industry in the USA and for the life of me can't believe how they overlook real talent like John Farnham, Jimmy Barnes, Guy Sebastian, Delta Goodram, Stan Walker and Matt Corby !!! I suppose with everything coming out into the light about P.Diddy, Clive Davis,Jay Z and many other music industry executives who chose to turn a blind eye to the evil they knew was going on or were involved in those horrendous acts themselves. It appears artists didn’t need genuine talent but a willingness to sell their souls by selling their bodies sexually in return for their silence and millions of dollars for a successful career in the music industry.

Hydration! I live in a hot, humid place, so I know what you are talking about. Lots of good advice here already. But one thing I will add is that I go through an acclimating process. When I start hiking long distances, my body is not used to holding in that much water. But as time goes on, my body gets used to storing water, which it can later sweat out when needed. Try pre hydrating BEFORE you go out. Knee pain. Lots of different reasons for that. My main two reasons are old injuries and bad footwear. My injuries have been sprains and torn ligaments, which leave my knees and hips looser than normal and more prone to flopping around out of alignment. But the right strengthening exercises can build up the muscles and tendons around the joints and hold them together better. I have actually avoided surgery through exercise/physical therapy. Footwear. If you have worn out shoes or shoes that do not match your walking style, that can affect not just your feet, but also your ankles, knees, hips, and back. Take a look at your shoes (both the outer soles and also the insoles). Make sure they are not worn out. In particular, check for uneven wear of tread, sole, support, or padding. Anything that your foot has to do to compensate for a bad shoe has the potential to cause problems further up your leg, including the knees. Also make sure that your shoes are the right size. Not too big, too small, too wide, or too narrow. That can also cause problems, especially when you are walking a lot!

I live in the Philippines and I have a problem with the heat and humidity as well, I have to make my own electrolyte mix and put it in my water every day. There are good recipes online, you can buy premade pacs but that gets very expensive. And I don't like glucose in it which is all I can find in the Philippines. What I use is a half a cup of good-quality salt, 4 capsules of Magnesium glycinate, and 1/2 teas. Nusalt or any salt substitute that is potassium chloride. Mix all together and I put 1/2 teas in a large 28 oz. tumbler. A good one to purchase is LMNT, but they don't have that in the Philippines and it is expensive.

Moving is one of the most stressful events in life. On top of that you choose to move to one of the most different cultures from the US/CA and then throw in the hottest summer on record in Japan this year and that's a prescription for health issues. I see lots of great advice (hydration/minerals/Pedialyte), sleep and stay away from the middle of the days (Japanese women use umbrellas in summer for a reason) until the heat starts to retreat. The northern island of Hokkaido is much cooler (and less expensive) and also has a vibrant music scene. You'll start to feel better as your health improves, hang in there kiddo, it will get better.

Andrea, you are a blessed, unique individual, doing amazing things! I agree with others about hydration. Your voice sounds dry and in heat you can lose hydration quickly. Also,(I'm NOT a doctor), keep up with supplements, like Vitamin C, D3, Zinc Magnesium, Potassium, B12 and K2 just to name a few. Also, taking time to think upon happy things and how fortunate you are to be living such a dream like life will help keep you grounded. I'm looking forward to hearing some of your mesmerizing music. I hope you don't mind that I am praying for you, your health and your circumstance (it couldn't hurt could it?). All the best as you find your "new normal". I hope it's OK to say "tanoshinde ne" to you, wishing you a good time!

Leg extensions and stationary relieve knee pain. Go slow, do not overdo. They build the muscle and tissue above and below the knee and stabilize and support it.

Heat exhaustion is very dangerous. My friend experienced it, and it took him quite awhile to recover completely. Look it up on the internet. If you can understand what is happening, it seems to make you cope better. First and foremost you need to take care of yourself more carefully. Wear a hat and keep hydrated. Also, there is a very good commercial on YT for a knee brace that sounds like it does amazing things. Sorry I can’t remember the brand. Keep an eye out. May the Lord bless you and keep you always.

I'm sorry to hear youre having a hard time right now. The season will change soon enough (heading into the Fall and Winter months.) I don't know if you follow John Daub online "Only in Japan". If you don't follow him, you might like to look into his videos. He is an American Ex-Pat who has been living in Japan for the past 20 years. I am sure he could provide some perspectives that could be of benefit. Another suggestion: You might benefit from visiting Hokkaido from time to time. As the northernmost area of Japan, it does see more cooler weather comparatively. Stay well!

You have lost some of the distractions that have et you push through that initial 'lost feeing' after a big life change. Your body can derail the mind and vice versa.. You are missing a coping tool with your knee acting up, and focusing on that is keeping you from remembering to drink those tons of water and find cool places to rest on your explores. In 1978 I found myself sitting in my third floor barracks room in Germany recovering from an injury, AND getting a Dear Joe cassette about how she went to a party and met three guys and had so much fun with all of them that had me doing the math of 3stories times 215lbs So yeah been down the a hell rabbit hole pretty deep. You did good with this reaching out and here's to your new friends in Japan taking it to heart and helping as they can.

But also, I *have* moved away from areas that were either too hot OR too high altitude, and that’s had the best impact on my health. It’s worth giving it at least a full year though, because bodies ARE typically great at adapting, but it’s rarely going to happen overnight…

For your hydration: I recommend you to consume actual electrolytes (salt, magnesium and potassium) The vast majority of commercial sports drinks (Gatorade, Prime, etc) are water with sugar artificial coloring, and electrolytes sometimes not even in the ratio that you need. Purchase actual electrolytes (potassium chloride, a good form of magnesium like magnesium citrate, glycinate, chloride) Wish you the best.

Andrea, I don't know how you are about keeping up hydration, but I've been where you are physically. Water, but electrolytes are most important. If you don't like Gatorade or sports drinks, there's a very mild product for children, called Pedialyte that is easy to drink. Please please make sure you have that ok... and then deal with the other stuff. I'm so happy you're there safely, and that you came to talk to us today.

Ice for joint pain put it on and off. And plenty of water room temperature or with a slight chill to it, if that’s to boring some fresh juice in it to add some taste. And most importantly take time to sit, preferably in the shade what ever it is it will be there tomorrow.😊 ps wear a hat when out side.

Hope you're feeling better soon. Be careful about diagnosis via youtube, is it joint or soft tissue (im a runner with a history of knee injury) ive had surgery but mostly physio and ultra sound. I needed an MRI to properly diagnose one of the issue, fortunately in the UK so I didn't need to pay for them specifically ( thanks to the NHS).

Quick easy tip for knee pain 1.rub/roll a broom stick like object on your quads and calves sorta like rolling pin kneading dough. Just go by feel shouldn't take more than a minute. 2. Also place knee pain foot on chair place the broom stick like object behind your knee in the crevice and lean forward bending your knee putting light to medium pressure on it.
