If you want somebody to test your armor and how effective it is it gets blasts and bullets you should send it to the states there's a KZbin channel called ordnance lab that tests have a license to test highest military grade explosive and there's a KZbinr called demolition ranch you can either have them test the ballistic qualities of your armor and other group can test the explosive resistance of your armor this thing is you should contact certain people where you might maybe think this armor could be pretty effectively sent to the Ukraine with no no that much faster problems and get it there wouldn't be such a problem because they already had that stuff in their stalks you say this is surplus right acquired by the ukrainians pretty satisfactory Did you have a pretty satisfied you for training customers

My first comment I'm surprised nobody in the UN or anybody in the military council members of never asked you for your advice what do you think listen to Ukrainian military or Ukraine defense forces and you showing your little or some of the people who charge you giving military aid to Ukraine they won't look at this is like a stupid this is pretty good it might be better than some of the arbor Day actually feeling on the field right now and you know what you're set up when you break the bank of some of the European you ain't countries the EU or NATO countries would be interested because this is our research plus equipment so that means they already had this in their stocks so this could be a brilliant solution to a very complicated problem you should maybe contact some of these people and maybe showing what your ideas at least get some testing on it and see how good it is because I think what you did is pretty smarty as one guy said

@@OffGridEnclave what you made a very simple elegant solution to a very complex problem and it's actually quite doable and I bet your design is set up could save a lot of Ukrainian lives no doubt it's a very simple solution to a very complicated problem I want to be surprised if Ukrainian soldiers were equipped with your setup it was saying many of their lives somebody I know you know I'm political but somebody should put you in charge of a current in at least have you a consultant on some things how is a military analyst I mean the kind of guy to watch KZbin and contact start the KZbinrs and their channels I would pay them quite handsomely for their input

I like your build, it's interesting, but consider this: fiberglass mat with random arranged fibers exhibits no ballistic value. Many short pieces have less ballistic value than a larger monolithic piece. low tensile strength mild steel, which this likely is, has little ballistic value especially for the weight penalty. Kevlar(aramid) pads are flexible, upon impact they will move onto the head and will likely crack the skull, and overpressure the brain. Small pieces of aramid panels are less ballistic efficient than larger pieces, since long fibers are needed to get the maximal energy absorption from the impact. Putting fiberglass over the metal creates a cutting effect for the fragment for bullet to compress the fibers against a semi-hard surface, thereby cutting the fibers in a very short segment, cancelling out all other modes of energy absorption of a normal fiber-matrix resin. Here is a good study on impact of 9x19mm on the US army's ACH helmet, and it shows that even 9x19mm on a modern ballistic helmet will kill the soldier, give severe brain damage with skull cracking. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7049849/ You might be able to take a plastic skater/bump helmet, remove the styrofoam to create at least 3-4cm stand-off from head to helmet, then use your fiberglass with resin to wrap around back-to-front for 28 layers to stop 9x19mm. This will give you long fibers, although no protection on the top.
@OffGridEnclave
@OffGridEnclave 3 ай бұрын
resourceful comment, many thanks. yes i am aware the random arranged fibers have very low ballistic properties, hence the kevlar paddings, and the hard kevlar in the front. The kevlar paddings are army sureplus and properly rated, not sure how far the trauma would be on the inside for a 9x19mm, altho i did put a bumpcap (basically a construction helmet) on the inside for trauma management. This Helmet was not so much designed for small objects at high velocity , but rather larger shrapnel at lower velocity. Attending my selfbuild bootleg pyrolysis reactor and such..

Is there any hay available for harvesting from the wild meadows for someone who want to become carnivore ? Raising sheep/goats ?
@faraoth
@faraoth Жыл бұрын
Hello! You could harvest hay from a meadow or from a bog - as they used to do in the old days. Either way you would need to own the land or have permission from the land owner to do so. As there's few sheep growers around, meadows tend to get forested these days. And Im one responsible for the above video.

So basically instead of chopping wood you spend time shovveling or collecting organic matter and piling it in the "hot room" for winter heat
@OffGridEnclave
@OffGridEnclave Жыл бұрын
+- . arguably the time for the setup is quicker then chopping the wood as one can use shredders to process bushy materials much faster then saws+trees. i would see the main benefit not in the time it takes for the setup but further down the line. the compost runs 24/7 , no need to move that chopped wood all the time and keep a fire running..

what is the cost of epoxy against wood and how long will last this repair and how strong it is?
@OffGridEnclave
@OffGridEnclave Жыл бұрын
cost of epoxy for such small operation i cant estimate truly as i buy a bunch of epoxy for other projects. those minor amounts i have no experience in buying. how long it will last, epoxy composites with uv hard epoxy can last 25+ years. the strength ofc depends on how solid the original material was, on the epoxy used and the efforts to support it. i would say the strength of repaired beam is defiantly comparable to normal beam.

I use epoxy for a lot of things. I have used it on rotten wood for turning bowls. However, the tricky part about epoxy is getting everything sealed so that the epoxy doesn't run everywhere. Very tricky! The other thing about using epoxy is the cost, it's really expensive.
@OffGridEnclave
@OffGridEnclave Жыл бұрын
yea the cost of def more then replacement wood as material. for those type of repairs the time and complexity to replace the wood is the main challenge. replacing the wood would have been a very complex 4-5 day operation. time is money ^^

Great video. I'm thinking about using your method to repair a similar situation. But, not clear on couple things: 1. Concrete will decay wood in direct contact. 2. Concrete and wood do not adhere well to each other. So I'm guessing the epoxy addresses both issues? Also, what is the brand of epoxy that you used. Thanks.
@OffGridEnclave
@OffGridEnclave Жыл бұрын
the epoxy basically "plastifies" the wood hence the contact with concrete is no issue. The epoxy will leave a very smooth surface, contact with concrete is horrible in terms of connection stability this is why i used the plenty of screws in the wood beam to have proper connection points. Thikk screws, half way into the wood half way into the later concrete block, many of them (much helps much).
